Umso mehr, wenn man zehn Jahre alt ist wie Oum Kulthum im \u00c4gypten des fr\u00fchen 20.<sup>.<\/sup> Jahrhundert, als unser Vater, ein Imam, uns dazu aufforderte, Nach\u00eeds, religi\u00f6se muslimische Lieder, vor dem ganzen Dorf und bei Hochzeiten zu singen. Das kann man sich schon in der ersten Szene von <em>Looking for Oum Kulthum<\/em> des iranischen Paares Shirin Neshat und Shoja Azari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Les choix du couple de r\u00e9alisateurs ne sont pas r\u00e9volutionnaires. Ils ont choisi la mise en ab\u00eeme, presque trop simpliste m\u00eame s\u2019ils \u00e9vitent ainsi le biopic sans saveur. Ils filment l\u2019histoire de la r\u00e9alisatrice Mitra (Neda Rahmanian) qui tente de raconter la vie de l\u2019Astre d\u2019Orient. Elle trouve l\u2019actrice parfaite pour le r\u00f4le principal sans savoir que le tournage la changera \u00e0 jamais. Ou quand l\u2019idole \u00e9touffe l\u2019artiste, la femme en exil, la m\u00e8re d\u00e9test\u00e9 par un fils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deux choix cin\u00e9matographiques<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Oum Kulthum fait partie des voix qui appartiennent au panth\u00e9on de la musique mondiale. Elle a scand\u00e9 d\u2019innombrables po\u00e8mes de Ahmed Rami, illuminant d\u2019un timbre profond la langue arabe. Comme Mercedes \u00abLa Negra\u00bb Sosa en Am\u00e9rique latine, elle a chant\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e2me d\u2019un peuple, le peuple \u00e9gyptien tout au long de sa carri\u00e8re et est devenu un mythe de la chanson. Elle a aussi os\u00e9 chanter le d\u00e9sir et l\u2019amour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le premier choix du duo de r\u00e9alisateurs est la mani\u00e8re d\u2019attaquer le mythe Oum Kulthum, le d\u00e9mystifiant. Ils ont ainsi insist\u00e9 sur le danger de la c\u00e9l\u00e9brit\u00e9, faisant le portrait d\u2019une chanteuse se distanciant progressivement de ses origines modestes pour vivre dans les palais et go\u00fbter \u00e0 la richesse de la gloire. En parall\u00e8le, Mitra se reconna\u00eet dans le personnage qu\u2019elle filme. Un \u00e9tat de fait qui rend d\u00e8s lors sa fibre artistique plus fragile \u00e0 chaque sc\u00e8ne et la rapproche paradoxalement de son histoire de famille personnelle. Ce n\u2019est pas une faiblesse en soit, m\u00eame si ce virage hors de la traditionnelle biographie film\u00e9e \u00e9cart\u00e8le quelques peu la temporalit\u00e9 du film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le second choix est l\u2019insistance sur la vie de Mitra plut\u00f4t que celle de la Quatri\u00e8me Pyramide, autre surnom d\u2019Oum Kulthum. Cette perspective ouvre des parall\u00e8les entre le besoin de gloire des deux protagonistes. La r\u00e9alisatrice Mitra accepte d\u2019une part tous les sacrifices pour le succ\u00e8s et d\u2019autre part sa relation avec la Cantatrice du peuple, comme les Egyptiens l\u2019appelaient encore, devient presque fusionnelle, identique assur\u00e9ment. Un effet de miroir, trop peu exploit\u00e9 dans le film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Une moiti\u00e9 de film<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Am Ende, <em>Looking for Oum Kulthum<\/em> n\u2019est ni exceptionnel ni m\u00e9diocre. Il a le m\u00e9rite de vouloir saisir l\u2019\u00e9trange envo\u00fbtement que la Dame a exerc\u00e9 et exerce toujours sur de nombreux arabophones et autres m\u00e9lomanes du monde entier. M\u00eame s\u2019il n\u2019y arrive qu\u2019\u00e0 moiti\u00e9. Une magie vocale que le film rend notamment dans les sc\u00e8nes de chants de Ghada (Yasmin Raeis, \u00e9blouissante), l\u2019actrice dans le r\u00f4le d\u2019Oum Kulthum. Les deux r\u00e9alisateurs ont saisi la dimension humaine et politique du mythe sans ignorer l&#8217;ostension de la personnalit\u00e9 de l&#8217;auteur de l&#8217;hymne national \u00e9gyptien entre 1960 et 1979.
