Das offizielle Plakat bringt es auf den Punkt: Der Zuschauer st\u00fcrzt sich in das Rauschen des Wassers und kehrt nicht unversehrt zur\u00fcck. Die deutsche Not\u00e4rztin Rike unternimmt mit ihrem Segelboot eine einsame Reise zur wilden Insel Ascension vor der K\u00fcste Mauretaniens. <em>Styx <\/em>leidet unter einigen unvermeidlichen L\u00e4ngen, aber der Regisseur setzt die Stille als echtes dramatisches Werkzeug ein.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Styx est aussi une Oc\u00e9anide, nymphe aquatique mais non marine, fille a\u00een\u00e9e d&#8217;Oc\u00e9an et de Th\u00e9tys dans la mythologie grecque. Peut-\u00eatre Rike (Susanne Wolff, d&#8217;une intensit\u00e9 \u00e9bouriffante), justement. Le r\u00e9alisateur laisse le doute ouvert. La parabole ne s&#8217;arr\u00eate pas l\u00e0 puisque l&#8217;aventuri\u00e8re peut \u00eatre associ\u00e9e au personnage mythologique de Charon. Mais oui! celui qui repousse \u00e0 coups de rames les \u00e2mes qui n&#8217;ont pas le droit de franchir le fleuve. A tous les points de passages, il laisse seulement traverser ceux qui peuvent lui verser une obole comme En\u00e9e, recherchant son p\u00e8re Anchise. Rike, elle, fait tout le contraire du vieillard avec Kingsley (Gedion Oduor Wekesa, troublant).<\/p>\n<h3>La navigation dans toute sa splendeur solitaire<\/h3>\n<p>N&#8217;allons pas plus loin dans le caract\u00e8re parabolique du film et revenons \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153uvre cin\u00e9matographique. Sinon, vous aurez s\u00fbrement abandonn\u00e9 votre lecture. Et \u00e7a! ce n&#8217;est pas notre envie. M\u00eame si la parabole est intelligente et a v\u00e9ritablement un sens. <em>Styx <\/em>est d&#8217;abord et avant tout une plong\u00e9e dans le quotidien d&#8217;une navigatrice dont le seul compagnon de confiance est son voilier durant toute la travers\u00e9e de l&#8217;oc\u00e9an Atlantique depuis Gibraltar.<\/p>\n<p>Le silence est roi durant la premi\u00e8re demi-heure du film, les contrastes entre la petite embarcation et les immenses p\u00e9troliers assument aussi leur r\u00f4le cin\u00e9matographique. Seuls les bruitages marins nourrissent l&#8217;image. Un \u00e9tourneau migrateur interf\u00e8re soudain avec le quotidien rigoureux de la navigatrice, le b\u00f4me, la barre, la poupe, les poulies, le hauban, le m\u00e2t et tous les composants d&#8217;un voilier. Le premier dialogue na\u00eet de la radio sous forme d&#8217;un avertissement au sujet d&#8217;une temp\u00eate violente \u00e0 venir tant\u00f4t. Il arrive d&#8217;un immense navire de commerce. Le seul contact humain passe par un microphone.<\/p>\n<h3>Un drame plein d&#8217;espoir<\/h3>\n<p>Wolfgang Fischer a pris un risque en d\u00e9butant son film de cette mani\u00e8re, car l&#8217;ennui menace \u00e0 plusieurs reprises dans la premi\u00e8re partie. M\u00eame si la performance extr\u00eamement physique de Susanne Wolff, les changements incessants de perspective de la cam\u00e9ra, les variations dynamiques de la lumi\u00e8re et les d\u00e9placements de l&#8217;actrice compensent des longueurs inh\u00e9rentes aux choix du r\u00e9alisateur.<\/p>\n<p>Si l&#8217;on consid\u00e8re cependant le d\u00e9roulement dramatique du film, alors le silence initial \u2013\u00a0ou v\u00e9ritable repos avant la temp\u00eate\u00a0\u2013 donne plus de force aux cris des migrants d&#8217;un chalutier toussotant et ab\u00eem\u00e9. Rike le croise en plein oc\u00e9an apr\u00e8s la temp\u00eate sans vraiment y croire. L\u00e0 encore, une justesse d&#8217;interpr\u00e9tation absolument ahurissante. Le manque d&#8217;interaction qui pr\u00e9c\u00e8de le sauvetage de Kingsley, impr\u00e9vu et qui est d\u00e9conseill\u00e9 par les gardes de c\u00f4tes, prend une sens nouveau. Elle le hisse \u00e0 bord du voilier avec difficult\u00e9, inconscient et us\u00e9 qu&#8217;il est, et le couvre plus tard d&#8217;une couverture verte, couleur de l&#8217;espoir. Laisser mourir les autres \u00eatres humains du chalutier; impossible pour Rike. Que peut-elle faire? Allez au cin\u00e9ma et vous le saurez. Et paf!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>L&#8217;Humain au centre de l&#8217;urgence<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Qu&#8217;est-ce que <em>Styx<\/em>? Un film qui pose d&#8217;abord la question de l&#8217;aide envers notre prochain et semblable. Un film qui interroge ensuite sur le comportement des administrations face \u00e0 l&#8217;urgence de sauver des vies dans l&#8217;oc\u00e9an Atlantique et dans la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e. Un film qui donne finalement une option humaniste parmi d&#8217;autres \u00e0 cette triste r\u00e9alit\u00e9, trop banalis\u00e9e. Un film politique? Justement pas. Jamais le sujet n\u2019est th\u00e9matis\u00e9. Jamais il ne sort des deux destins oppos\u00e9s qui se rencontrent, de deux mondes qui se fracassent l&#8217;un contre l&#8217;autre comme les vagues d&#8217;un oc\u00e9an infernal et sans fin.
