Musumeci<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u00abDer Teufel wird dich immer wieder in Versuchung f\u00fchren\u00bb.\u00bb&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">Jared Eamons ist brav und fromm. Ein echter amerikanischer Junge, der in der Schule gut mitarbeitet, seinen Eltern gehorcht, mit denen er viel diskutiert, in der Ford-Werkstatt seines Vaters aushilft und keinen Sonntag in der Kirche vers\u00e4umt. Der Vater ist Pastor, also ganz normal. Jared hat Freunde, die gute Jungs sind, und er hat sogar eine kleine Freundin. Als er das Elternhaus verl\u00e4sst, um an der Universit\u00e4t zu studieren, entdeckt er seine Vorliebe f\u00fcr Jungs - oder gesteht sie sich ein - und wird immer imposanter. Die Umst\u00e4nde f\u00fchren dazu, dass seine Eltern von der Universit\u00e4t benachrichtigt werden. Das ist unzul\u00e4ssig. Der Junge muss korrigiert und auf den rechten Weg gebracht werden. Zum Gl\u00fcck gibt es das Institut Love in Action, das sich auf sexuelle Neuorientierung spezialisiert hat. Selbst wenn sie dabei etwas fragw\u00fcrdige Methoden anwenden. Jareds Geschichte ist eine wahre Geschichte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eine wahre Geschichte, eine Geschichte des Leidens, eine Geschichte von Intoleranz und Diskriminierung \u2013 also bewegend? Na ja. Tats\u00e4chlich bleibt niemand gleichg\u00fcltig, wenn man h\u00f6rt, dass ein Jugendlicher gemobbt wird, weil er schwul ist. Ja, es tut einem das Herz weh f\u00fcr ihn, man denkt sich, dass er in seiner puritanischen Familie eine H\u00f6lle durchleben muss und dass das alles ungerecht ist. Dennoch reicht das nicht aus, um Kino zu machen \u2013 oder zumindest gutes Kino. Abgesehen vom Filmplakat, das sehr gelungen ist, f\u00e4llt an der Kameraf\u00fchrung nichts ins Auge. Nicht einmal das Licht, das durch die Buntglasfenster der Kirche f\u00e4llt, oder die Kamerabewegungen oder gar der Rhythmus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"BOY ERASED Trailer (2019) Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/64sH4Ci88nw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Auch wenn man zugeben muss, dass die Szenen zumindest in einem Punkt eine Konstante aufweisen: Sie spielen mit der Isolation von Jared und den anderen homosexuellen Patienten in der Therapie. Das Drehbuch kann ebenfalls nicht \u00fcberzeugen: Zu viele R\u00fcckblenden, die den Protagonisten zweifellos qu\u00e4len, das Publikum jedoch nur m\u00e4\u00dfig. Den Figuren fehlt es an Nuancen; schade, denn der Wille, ihnen diese zu verleihen, ist da, und das sp\u00fcrt man. Trotz dieses Mangels bleibt die am besten verk\u00f6rperte Figur dennoch die von Jared. Der Schauspieler gibt alles, um das Unwohlsein der von ihm dargestellten Figur zu offenbaren. Zudem gelingt es ihm, die Unterwerfung unter seine Eltern brillant darzustellen. Und ehrlich gesagt, das freut einen. Denn auch wenn der Film nicht besonders gut ist, bietet er zumindest ein Zeugnis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Was die wahre Geschichte von Garrad Conley angeht, ist das Interesse unbestritten. Sie gibt Aufschluss \u00fcber die Existenz solcher Einrichtungen sowie \u00fcber die dort angewandten Praktiken. Schon allein deswegen,&nbsp;<em>Boy Erased<\/em> lohnt sich. \u00dcbrigens h\u00e4tte ein solches Thema sogar die Oscars erobern k\u00f6nnen, wenn es mit viel mehr Geschick verfilmt worden w\u00e4re. Ich glaube \u00fcbrigens, dass Joel Edgerton, Regisseur und Schauspieler, dieses Geschick besitzt. Er steht erst am Anfang seiner Karriere hinter der Kamera. Ob er sich nun weiter als Regisseur versucht oder beim Schauspielern bleibt \u2013 das muss er selbst entscheiden. Auf jeden Fall muss man ihm neben der Themenwahl das Talent zugestehen, Homosexualit\u00e4t ohne Sexszenen behandelt zu haben \u2013 mit Ausnahme einer einzigen, recht eigenwilligen und zur\u00fcckhaltenden Szene. Das ist lobenswert! Nicht im Namen einer heute \u00fcberholten Anst\u00e4ndigkeit, sondern vielmehr aus einer Zur\u00fcckhaltung heraus, die sich vom Voyeurismus fernh\u00e4lt und zeigt, dass dies f\u00fcr Jared nicht das Hauptanliegen ist.
