In mehreren Bildern schildert der Film auf humorvolle Weise die vergessenen, aber allt\u00e4glichen Momente unserer Existenz sowie das Streben eines Regisseurs nach Anerkennung. Ein poetischer und am\u00fcsanter Spielfilm, der jedoch nicht unbedingt in alle H\u00e4nde gelegt werden sollte.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more Lire la critique-->\n\n\n\n<p>Pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 au Festival de Cannes 2019, le nouveau film d\u2019Elia Suleiman \u00e9tait attendu au tournant. <em>It must be Heaven <\/em>est un film \u00abm\u00e9ta\u00bb au sens o\u00f9 le protagoniste du long-m\u00e9trage n\u2019est autre qu\u2019Elia Suleiman lui-m\u00eame \u00e0 la recherche de fonds pour produire son film. Un dispositif assum\u00e9 d\u2019embl\u00e9e de jeu et qui nous permet d\u2019embrasser le point de vue de Suleiman, notamment au sujet de son quotidien et des choses qu\u2019il voit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RYSKzDiUGdk\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Le regard sans voix<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Au niveau de la composition, le long-m\u00e9trage est structur\u00e9 en diff\u00e9rents tableaux; tableaux dont le spectateur doit tisser les liens \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019indices visuels ou des paroles de personnages secondaires. En effet, grande particularit\u00e9 du film, le protagoniste est d\u2019un mutisme absolu. Et c\u2019est ce qui rend le visionnage fascinant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il me semble que tout le film joue sur un seul \u00e9l\u00e9ment: le regard. A d\u00e9faut de parole, Suleiman observe tout. Ce sens de l\u2019observation, a priori si ennuyant, est rendu ludique et dr\u00f4le par le protagoniste qui joue d\u2019un certain comique de gestes et de situations. Cela m\u2019\u00e9voque notamment le jeu d\u2019acteur dans les vieux films muets, \u00e0 l\u2019instar de Buster Keaton dans <em>Steamboat Bill, Jr.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le regard du protagoniste interroge \u2013 au sens propre. Face \u00e0 ce regard, les personnages secondaires s\u2019expriment, vont \u00e0 la rencontre de Suleiman, cr\u00e9ent des liens. A titre d\u2019exemple, nous pouvons citer son voisin qui, chaque matin, s\u2019introduit dans son jardin pour se charger des citronniers. Cela est d\u2019ailleurs traduit par la cam\u00e9ra qui alterne entre des plans g\u00e9n\u00e9raux, en vue de d\u00e9crire les paysages et d\u2019ancrer le protagoniste dans un milieu ou un pays, et la cam\u00e9ra subjective qui nous laisse voir la sc\u00e8ne \u00e0 travers les yeux du protagoniste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/ItMustBeHeaven_B1_70x100a-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29507\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Elia Suleiman, ce fl\u00e2neur <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Etant donn\u00e9 que le personnage ne nous fournit aucune indication, le r\u00e9alisateur a diss\u00e9min\u00e9, \u00e7\u00e0 et l\u00e0, des indices pour nous permettre de comprendre ce qui se passe. Prenons l\u2019exemple g\u00e9ographique. Au d\u00e9but du film, la langue des personnages secondaires, ainsi que des panneaux, nous indique que le protagoniste se situe en terres arabophones. Mais, plus tard, une camionnette, devant la maison du protagoniste, porte des plaques min\u00e9ralogiques isra\u00e9liennes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De m\u00eame, lorsque Suleiman prend l\u2019avion, la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision indiquant le parcours du vol place le point de d\u00e9part \u00e0 l\u2019a\u00e9roport de Tel-Aviv. De quoi nous obliger \u00e0 \u00eatre attentifs \u00e0 ce que nous voyons. Et \u00e0 ce que nous entendons. La belle bande-son met d\u2019ailleurs en valeur plusieurs passages \u2013 po\u00e9tiques \u2013 comme la course-poursuite entre une <em>femen<\/em> d\u00e9guis\u00e9e en ange et des policiers new-yorkais sur fond de <em>Darkness <\/em>de Leonard Cohen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parti de Tel-Aviv, notre r\u00e9alisateur se rend \u00e0 Paris o\u00f9, install\u00e9 \u00e0 la terrasse d\u2019un caf\u00e9, il contemple les passantes dans la rue. Le rythme du film, \u00e0 l\u2019instar d\u2019une grande fresque, est lent: on s\u2019arr\u00eate, on observe et on analyse les choses et les personnes. Surtout si ce sont des \u00e9v\u00e9nements du quotidien, comme des passants assis autour d\u2019une fontaine, de policiers en patrouille, d\u2019\u00e9boueurs qui jouent avec des canettes\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/ItMustBeHeaven_Filmstill4-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29508\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Notons que la seule fois o\u00f9 le protagoniste parle, c\u2019est lors d\u2019une conversation avec un chauffeur de taxi. Ce dernier l\u2019interroge sur son pays d\u2019origine et sa nationalit\u00e9. Suleiman lui r\u00e9pond alors qu\u2019il est palestinien et vient de Nazareth. Le chauffeur de taxi s\u2019enthousiasme alors et lui offre la course. Parce que Suleiman est Palestinien\u2026 D\u2019o\u00f9 l\u2019importance du mutisme. De ville en ville, de Tel-Aviv \u00e0 New York, le protagoniste \u2013 s\u2019il ne dit rien et que les autres ne s\u2019int\u00e9ressent pas \u00e0 son origine \u2013 passe inaper\u00e7u. Un citoyen du monde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Avant d\u2019\u00eatre un film sur la Palestine ou sur la condition d\u2019un r\u00e9alisateur palestinien, ce qui est mis en avant dans <em>It must be Heaven<\/em>, c\u2019est un \u00e9loge du fl\u00e2neur. Vous savez, ce h\u00e9ros baudelairien qui aime tra\u00eener dans les rues? Eh bien, Elia Suleiman se met en sc\u00e8ne pour incarner ce personnage errant qui est finalement de partout et de nulle part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le long-m\u00e9trage du r\u00e9alisateur isra\u00e9lo-palestinien est emprunt d\u2019une po\u00e9sie qui, au lieu de passer par le verbal, se concentre sur le visuel et, notamment, sur les gestes. Mais justement, au vu des standards actuels, peut-\u00eatre que ce film s\u2019adresse plus \u00e0 des personnes curieuses de voir des nouveaut\u00e9s ou admiratrices de films \u00ab\u00e0 l\u2019ancienne\u00bb.
