La Chute d\u2019une m\u00e9t\u00e9orite? Des visiteurs venus du fin fond du Cosmos? Quoi qu\u2019il en soit, notre pays qui n\u2019est pas bien grand vit appara\u00eetre une chose inou\u00efe \u2013 ce qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 appel\u00e9 \u2018\u2018la Zone\u2019\u2019. Nous avons commenc\u00e9 par y envoyer des troupes. Nul n\u2019en est revenu. Alors nous l\u2019avons boucl\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019importantes forces de police\u2026 Et sans doute avons-nous bien fait. Au reste, je n\u2019en sais rien\u2026 C\u2019\u00e9tait un fragment d\u2019une interview du Prix Nobel professeur Walles.\u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<!--more Lire la suite de la r\u00e9trospective-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">C\u2019est sur cet extrait du roman <em>Stalker<\/em> que d\u00e9bute le film du m\u00eame nom, libre adaptation r\u00e9alis\u00e9e par le grand Andre\u00ef Tarkovski et sortie en 1979, apr\u00e8s un long plan sur un bistrot, o\u00f9 un homme se fait servir un verre. Il y a quelque chose de magique dans cette ambiance, magique parce que jamais connu d\u2019avant. Pass\u00e9 le texte diffus\u00e9 sur \u00e9cran noir, un plan s\u2019attarde \u00e0 nouveau sur une pi\u00e8ce, cette fois-ci une chambre \u00e0 coucher, vraisemblablement. On passe, par un mouvement de cam\u00e9ra extr\u00eamement lent qui se dirige vers la gauche, d\u2019une table qui tremble \u2013 un train passe \u2013 \u00e0 une femme couch\u00e9e, puis en enfant couch\u00e9, puis un homme couch\u00e9. Lui et elle ont les yeux ouverts. On les devine ou tristes, ou fatigu\u00e9s, ou fous. L\u2019enfant refera son apparition \u00e0 la toute fin de l\u2019\u0153uvre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Entre deux, eh bien, deux heures et demie d\u2019images au ralenti, de paroles profondes, de couleurs angoissantes et de myst\u00e8re illumin\u00e9. Deux heures et demie de symbolisme. Au centre de ce film-monde, un territoire o\u00f9 \u00abil n\u2019y a personne et [o\u00f9] il est impossible qu\u2019il y ait quelqu\u2019un\u00bb: la Zone. Comme une sorte de <em>no man\u2019s land<\/em> dont on ignore tout, jusqu\u2019aux causes d\u2019apparition. Bombe atomique, extraterrestres, m\u00e9t\u00e9orite? Qu\u2019importe le danger; un \u00e9crivain et un professeur de physique s\u2019aventurent en ces terres, guid\u00e9s par un <em>stalker<\/em> (\u00abpasseur\u00bb en anglais). Ils partent \u00e0 la qu\u00eate de la chambre qui, dit-on, se trouve au milieu de la Zone et permet de r\u00e9aliser tous ses souhaits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"http:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/maxresdefault.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32089\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Un huis clos g\u00e9ant<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Bien vite, on se rend compte de l\u2019importance d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments concrets dans <em>Stalker<\/em>, comme les portes et les ouvertures, les murs et les cloisons. \u00abJe me sens partout en prison.\u00bb Ce sentiment d\u2019enfermement est tr\u00e8s bien rendu par l\u2019esth\u00e9tique du film. Les personnages sont comme enferm\u00e9s dans des pi\u00e8ces, mais aussi dans une forme de folie et dans leurs limites psychologiques. Les cavernes et les gorges succ\u00e8dent aux chambres int\u00e9rieures; ce sont en quelque sorte des chambres ext\u00e9rieures. A un niveau sup\u00e9rieur, c\u2019est la Zone elle-m\u00eame qui enferme les personnages comme elle renferme des secrets. La Zone comme partie du monde et m\u00e9taphore du monde. Ce qui fait de <em>Stalker<\/em> un huis clos g\u00e9ant. G\u00e9ant, parce que non confin\u00e9 dans une maison comme nous actuellement. Et g\u00e9ant, parce que grandiose artistiquement parlant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En lien avec cette th\u00e9matique de l\u2019enfermement, un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 cin\u00e9matographique bas\u00e9 sur la lenteur. <em>Stalker<\/em> est un film lui-m\u00eame victime d\u2019enfermement, \u00e0 savoir un enfermement dans la lenteur. Peut-\u00eatre vous direz-vous que mon vocabulaire est r\u00e9p\u00e9titif; il l\u2019est, \u00e0 dessein; il vise \u00e0 reproduire l\u2019ennui du film. Oui, vous m\u2019avez bien lu. <em>Stalker<\/em> est un film ennuyeux, mais au bon sens du terme: il th\u00e9matise l\u2019ennui jusqu\u2019\u00e0 s\u2019identifier \u00e0 lui. D\u00e8s lors, quoi de mieux pour cette <em>Madame Bovary<\/em> du cin\u00e9ma sovi\u00e9tique qu\u2019une forme cin\u00e9matographiquement flaubertienne alli\u00e9e au verbe de P\u00e9guy, cet autre mystique que Tarkovski?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Auch zu lesen: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/de\/2017\/10\/04\/faute-damour-un-film-qui-en-dit-long-sur-les-maux-de-notre-epoque\/\"><strong><em>Faute d\u2019amour<\/em><\/strong><strong>, un film qui en dit long sur les maux de notre \u00e9poque<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019ennui est pr\u00e9sent \u00e9galement dans les dialogues. On ne r\u00e9p\u00e8tera jamais assez \u00e0 quel point les r\u00e9pliques des personnages excellent dans le cin\u00e9ma de Tarkovski. Ce sont celles de l\u2019\u00e9crivain qui, dans ce film, sont particuli\u00e8rement \u00e9vocatrices. \u00abJ\u2019\u00e9cris et par cons\u00e9quent tout le monde m\u2019appelle l\u2019Ecrivain, je me demande pourquoi. \u2013 Et vous \u00e9crivez sur quoi? \u2013 Sur les lecteurs. Je crois qu\u2019il n\u2019y a pas d\u2019autre sujet valable. [\u2026.] L\u2019inspiration, je m\u2019en balance. Sais-je seulement comment appeler ce que je d\u00e9sire? Sais-je si en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 je ne d\u00e9sire pas du tout ce que je d\u00e9sire? [\u2026] Celui qui \u00e9crit ne le fait que parce qu\u2019il souffre, qu\u2019il doute. Cr\u00e9er son monde, cr\u00e9er son art. \u00abC\u2019est de la discussion que na\u00eet cette farce de v\u00e9rit\u00e9.\u00bb D\u2019o\u00f9 la profonde mise en ab\u00eeme \u2013 c\u2019est le cas de le dire dans cet environnement de grottes et de cavit\u00e9s \u2013 du film qui livre une r\u00e9flexion sur le cin\u00e9ma et, plus g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement, sur la diff\u00e9rence entre la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 et l\u2019illusion. Quelle diff\u00e9rence? nous dit Tarkovski. S\u2019il y en a une, est-elle vraiment \u00e9tanche? Ne sommes-nous pas dans l\u2019incapacit\u00e9 de la d\u00e9finir? Et ceux qui pr\u00e9tendent d\u00e9finir la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 ne nous servent-ils pas des plateaux d\u2019illusion? Le r\u00e9el ne fait-il pas du cin\u00e9ma? Le <em>stalker<\/em> ne serait-il pas Tarkovski en personne?<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>De ces renversements infinis, le r\u00e9alisateur sovi\u00e9tique en a fait une \u0153uvre de ma\u00eetre, dont l\u2019exigeante et obs\u00e9dante esth\u00e9tique devient au final le v\u00e9ritable sujet. Les musiques orientalisantes, faites de gammes ni majeures ni mineures et d\u2019instruments exotiques telles que des fl\u00fbtes lointaines, constituent le meilleur exemple des d\u00e9tails qui font toute la richesse de ce long-m\u00e9trage. La subtile transition entre le noir-blanc et la couleur, aussi, questionnant la fronti\u00e8re entre la Zone et le reste du monde, entre le r\u00eave et le r\u00e9el. L\u2019alcool dans lequel les protagonistes sont emp\u00eatr\u00e9s porte enfin un \u00e9ni\u00e8me discr\u00e9dit \u00e0 ce que voit le spectateur, comme en litt\u00e9rature dans <em>Meursault, contre-enqu\u00eate<\/em> de Kamel Daoud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abLe triangle ABC est \u00e9gal au triangle A\u2019B\u2019C\u2019.\u00bb De cette phrase \u00e9nigmatique qui survient \u00e0 plusieurs reprises, on peut en tirer une signification allant dans le sens d\u2019une mise \u00e0 \u00e9galit\u00e9 entre la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 et la fiction (notons aussi que les protagonistes sont au nombre de trois). Une fa\u00e7on de montrer \u00e9galement les mensonges de l\u2019URSS, un empire totalitaire dont le cin\u00e9aste \u00e0 l\u2019honneur aujourd\u2019hui s\u2019est vite distanc\u00e9 dans sa carri\u00e8re, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 perdre la possibilit\u00e9 de faire financer ses films par les organes de son pays. Tant mieux. En refusant un l\u00e2che et ali\u00e9nant suivisme pro-sovi\u00e9tique, Tarkovski s\u2019est inscrit dans la l\u00e9gende.
