Der Norddeutsche Brahms mochte Frankreich nicht besonders, und franz\u00f6sische Komponisten haben ihn immer wieder verunglimpft. Es hie\u00df, dass sein Sauerkraut dank seiner vielen Italienreisen oft mit Ambrosia, dem Getr\u00e4nk der G\u00f6tter, \u00fcbergossen wurde. Das ist wahr... Hinter einer gewissen Schwere gibt es \u00abg\u00f6ttliche\u00bb Passagen von intensiver Sch\u00f6nheit. Deshalb w\u00fcrde ich, wenn ich eine einzige Minute Musik auf eine einsame Insel mitnehmen m\u00fcsste, diese bei Brahms finden. Brahms ist in Wirklichkeit ein Mann, der durch eine ungl\u00fcckliche Kindheit als Musiker in einem Hamburger Hafenkabarett tief verwundet wurde, aber aus dieser Wunde entspringt die erhabene Musik, die ich behalten w\u00fcrde.
