Pour tout \u00eatre normalement constitu\u00e9, il s\u2019agit d\u2019une question n\u00e9cessitant un court temps de r\u00e9flexion au moins. Rei (Kiko Mizuhara), elle, n\u2019a jamais h\u00e9sit\u00e9 lorsqu\u2019elle a plant\u00e9 un morceau de verre dans la gorge du mari violent de celle qu\u2019elle aime. Dix ans apr\u00e8s avoir quitt\u00e9 le lyc\u00e9e, Nanae (Honami Sat\u00f4) sollicite Rei pour lui demander de liquider celui qui la bat nuit et jour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans ce tableau du Japon contemporain commence ensuite une fuite vers nulle part, \u00e0 deux, o\u00f9 se m\u00ealeront sentiments, irrationalit\u00e9, violence. C\u2019est au travers du prisme de deux femmes amoureuses que Ryuichi Hiroki nous propose son regard. Les sc\u00e8nes sanglantes, presque graphiques, se succ\u00e9dant aux sc\u00e8nes de sexe, nous nous immis\u00e7ons aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de deux femmes et de toutes leurs ambig\u00fcit\u00e9s et contradictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Thriller manqu\u00e9, romance r\u00e9ussie<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Le d\u00e9veloppement des deux protagonistes correspond \u00e0 deux carcans sociaux \u00e9cul\u00e9s, pour ne pas dire clich\u00e9s: Rei, bourgeoise qui ne comprend pas le principe de cuisiner si des sous-fifres le font \u00e0 sa place, et Nanae, couverte d\u2019ecchymoses de la t\u00eate aux pieds, anciennement tabass\u00e9e par son p\u00e8re, puis par son mari et pr\u00eate \u00e0 se prostituer pour payer ses \u00e9tudes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La trame narrative lin\u00e9aire du <em>Roadmovie<\/em> est entrecoup\u00e9e par de nombreux flash-backs qui permettent d\u2019expliquer la gen\u00e8se de leur amiti\u00e9. Ces ajouts, en plus de couper l\u2019\u00e9lan avec lequel se suivent les p\u00e9rip\u00e9ties, ne font que renforcer l\u2019id\u00e9e que le film penche plus du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la romance que d\u2019un thriller psychologique comme annonc\u00e9. Le genre thriller du film rate son coup: trame narrative lin\u00e9aire, les rebondissements sont pr\u00e9visibles, et peu de suspense \u00e0 la clef. Malgr\u00e9 ces quelques \u00e9cueils, la romance convainc, notamment par le jeu d\u2019actrice tant\u00f4t juv\u00e9nile, tant\u00f4t grave et par la chimie palpable des deux interpr\u00e8tes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Regard sur les femmes et la sexualit\u00e9<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ryuichi Hiroki est avant tout un r\u00e9alisateur dont l\u2019objet favori est les femmes. Pr\u00e9sentes dans presque tous ces films, notamment dans l\u2019excellent <em>Vibrator<\/em> (2003) o\u00f9 une femme aux prises avec de troubles psychologiques s\u2019entiche d\u2019un chauffeur de camion avec qui elle se d\u00e9couvrira sexuellement. Ou encore <em>The Egoists<\/em> (2011) dans lequel une strip-teaseuse et un joueur inv\u00e9t\u00e9r\u00e9 tentent de faire table rase du pass\u00e9 pour construire une vie nouvelle. Mettant \u00e0 nu ses acteurs, le r\u00e9alisateur construit des personnages en qu\u00eate de leur propre sexualit\u00e9, fr\u00f4lant sans arr\u00eat les limites de la marginalit\u00e9 au sein d\u2019une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 japonaise bien cadr\u00e9e. <em>Ride or Die<\/em> ne fait pas exception \u00e0 la logique du r\u00e9alisateur.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Film doux et brutal, ni amies, ni amantes, leur relation est intime, mais nous devons patienter jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 la deuxi\u00e8me heure du film pour enfin assister \u00e0 des gestes tendres. Celle-ci se mat\u00e9rialise par la prise en consid\u00e9ration de l\u2019homosexualit\u00e9 f\u00e9minine dans le paysage nippon. M\u00eame si le Japon est un pays relativement ouvert sur ce genre de questions, il demeure un certain malaise au sein des familles, comme en t\u00e9moigne le personnage de l\u2019ex-petite-amie de Rei, qui pleure de ne pas pouvoir donner des enfants \u00e0 sa m\u00e8re ou Rei, qui \u00e0 29 ans, reste dans le plus profond des placards de peur de froisser la \u00abpi\u00e9t\u00e9 familiale\u00bb. Sans \u00eatre totalement marginalis\u00e9es, elles fr\u00f4lent les conventions dans ce climat conservateur accentu\u00e9 aussi par l\u2019ultra-violence des hommes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ne tombant pas dans un proc\u00e8s gratuit \u00e0 leur encontre, le film est avant tout une recherche d\u2019auto-lib\u00e9ration qui ne se r\u00e9alise que dans la fuite. D\u2019ailleurs, le film a lui-m\u00eame rejoint la liste tr\u00e8s serr\u00e9e des films lesbiens japonais dont font partie notamment <em>Kakera: A Piece of Our Life <\/em>(2009) ou <em>Manji <\/em>(1964).
