Ce qu\u2019elles ont en commun:&nbsp;une course effr\u00e9n\u00e9e pour fuir les griffes de leur compagnon. L\u2019auteure sera la seule \u00e0 y parvenir. Des ann\u00e9es apr\u00e8s \u00eatre sortie de cette relation, elle d\u00e9cide de cheminer entre ces femmes pour faire r\u00e9sonner leur histoire respective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trois histoires diff\u00e9rentes, mais travers\u00e9es par une m\u00eame question:&nbsp;que reste-t-il apr\u00e8s la violence? Que devient-on lorsque l\u2019amour est retourn\u00e9 contre soi?&nbsp;Le livre ne raconte pas seulement des drames intimes, mais donne \u00e0 voir la mani\u00e8re dont certaines violences s\u2019installent, se taisent, puis continuent d\u2019exister bien apr\u00e8s les faits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-le-charme-avant-le-piege\">Le charme avant le pi\u00e8ge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour les trois femmes, la rencontre avec l\u2019homme qui deviendra leur bourreau s\u2019op\u00e8re d\u2019abord sous des dehors presque id\u00e9aux. Il repr\u00e9sente un lieu de libert\u00e9, d\u2019\u00e9mancipation, mais surtout d\u2019amour. La violence ne surgit pas imm\u00e9diatement comme une menace. Elle se glisse dans une histoire qui, au d\u00e9part, semble offrir une promesse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le portrait dress\u00e9 de HC, l\u2019homme qui a partag\u00e9 la vie de Nathacha&nbsp;Appanah pendant ces ann\u00e9es de souffrance, commence ainsi de mani\u00e8re s\u00e9duisante. Grand lettr\u00e9, il l\u2019initie \u00e0 la beaut\u00e9 des mots, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9nergie de la passion, et pr\u00e9sente leur histoire comme une idylle in\u00e9vitable, une rencontre presque magique. Parfois, le pi\u00e8ge s\u2019ouvre par le charme et l\u2019impression d\u2019\u00eatre choisie. La passion, racont\u00e9e par celui qui domine, peut devenir un \u00e9cran masquant l\u2019in\u00e9galit\u00e9 et la violence qui s\u2019installe peu \u00e0 peu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-raconter-les-autres-pour-mieux-reussir-a-se-livrer-soi-meme\">Raconter les autres pour mieux r\u00e9ussir \u00e0 se livrer soi-m\u00eame<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Le basculement du r\u00e9cit entre ces trois femmes n\u2019est pas toujours explicite, comme une volont\u00e9 de porter une voix commune. Des trois femmes, la narratrice est l\u2019unique survivante d\u2019un compagnon dangereux. La force de son \u00e9criture r\u00e9side dans cette capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 passer d\u2019une histoire \u00e0 l\u2019autre, comme si chaque destin \u00e9clairait les deux autres. Elle pose ouvertement les questions que le lecteur se pose, tout en interrogeant la possibilit\u00e9 m\u00eame d\u2019une survie:&nbsp;la sienne, mais aussi celle de deux femmes que le destin, ou peut-\u00eatre seulement quelques circonstances, auraient pu \u00e9pargner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En d\u00e9cidant de mener l\u2019enqu\u00eate sur les derni\u00e8res heures des autres victimes, Nathacha&nbsp;Appanah interroge aussi ses propres derniers jours avant le d\u00e9part d\u00e9finitif. Et en&nbsp;remontant le fil des ann\u00e9es qui ont progressivement men\u00e9 Emma et Chahinez vers leur assassinat, elle cherche le point de bascule:&nbsp;le moment o\u00f9 la fuite n\u2019est plus possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Une question revient r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement dans les d\u00e9bats publics interrogeant la v\u00e9racit\u00e9 des t\u00e9moignages de victimes:&nbsp;pourquoi attendre des dizaines d\u2019ann\u00e9es pour en parler? Ce livre offre, \u00e0 lui seul, plusieurs possibilit\u00e9s de r\u00e9ponse. Il propose une r\u00e9flexion poignante sur la difficult\u00e9 pour une victime de se consid\u00e9rer comme telle, sur l\u2019impossibilit\u00e9 de creuser dans la douleur des souvenirs, mais aussi sur la force parfois puis\u00e9e dans le malheur d\u2019autres victimes, qui r\u00e9veille la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de s\u2019exprimer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u00abLa m\u00e9moire est un choix, la m\u00e9moire est un fant\u00f4me patient. Dans les mois qui ont suivi, je pensais \u00e0 Emma, je pensais \u00e0 sa mort horrible [&#8230;], mais j\u2019effleurais son souvenir avec pr\u00e9caution seulement comme on entrouvre une bo\u00eete \u00e0 souvenirs et je la refermais tr\u00e8s vite, les mains tremblantes. Je ne voulais pas retourner l\u00e0-bas. L\u00e0-bas:ce trou qui est devenu \u00e0 la fois un puits auquel je viens m\u2019abreuver et un ab\u00eeme dans lequel je ne veux pas tomber.\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>A travers son t\u00e9moignage, Nathacha&nbsp;Appanah interroge moins la violence elle-m\u00eame que ce qui lui survit.&nbsp;Il ne s\u2019agit pas seulement de d\u00e9cider de raconter, il faut que cela devienne possible. Le poids des ann\u00e9es n\u2019efface pas la violence, mais rend parfois seulement la parole envisageable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-la-volonte-de-vivre\">La volont\u00e9 de vivre<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La mort plane sur tout le r\u00e9cit. Pourtant, ce qui int\u00e9resse surtout Nathacha&nbsp;Appanah est moins la disparition que l&#8217;\u00e9lan vital qui pousse encore \u00e0 fuir, \u00e0 r\u00e9sister, \u00e0 vivre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abJe suis ici, allong\u00e9e, les yeux ouverts, et aussi une autre qui se tient \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9, un ersatz de moi-m\u00eame fait de morceaux de cette nuit que j\u2019ai d\u00e9coup\u00e9s et aval\u00e9s. Aucune version n\u2019est intacte. Les deux portent la honte, le chagrin, le sentiment de d\u00e9ch\u00e9ance, l\u2019envie de vivre. Vivre, oui. Encore. Comment est-ce possible, cette folie d\u2019avoir envie de continuer \u00e0 vivre encore des jours et des nuits ?\u00bb Nathacha&nbsp;Appanah&nbsp;dit ce paradoxe central:&nbsp;la violence peut briser sans \u00e9teindre tout d\u00e9sir de continuer. Vivre, ici, n\u2019a rien d\u2019un triomphe. C\u2019est une folie presque incompr\u00e9hensible, une impulsion fragile, mais persistante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-y-a-t-il-une-redemption-possible-malgre-tout\">Y a-t-il une r\u00e9demption possible malgr\u00e9 tout?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En \u00e9voquant son histoire, Nathacha&nbsp;Appanah raconte aussi l\u2019apr\u00e8s:&nbsp;ce qui commence lorsque l\u2019on parvient \u00e0 quitter la violence. Le livre interroge cette culpabilit\u00e9 diffuse qui accompagne parfois la survie. Elle met des mots sur ce qui, longtemps, est rest\u00e9 \u00e0 distance, non pour s\u2019en lib\u00e9rer compl\u00e8tement, mais pour cesser peut-\u00eatre d\u2019\u00eatre seule avec cette histoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A la fin du livre, les mots ne gu\u00e9rissent pas tout. Ils donnent une forme \u00e0 la douleur, lui ajoutent peut-\u00eatre des t\u00e9moins, mais ne la font pas dispara\u00eetre. En racontant Emma et Chahinez, Nathacha&nbsp;Appanah les arrache au silence, sans soulager tout \u00e0 fait leur destin ni sa propre peine. Le livre ne transforme donc pas la parole en r\u00e9paration totale.
