Quartier chaud, quartier noir. Chiron, le gringalet nomm\u00e9 Little, court de toutes ses jambes, de toute sa force. Il doit \u00e9chapper aux autres enfants qui veulent le fracasser. C\u2019est la m\u00eame rengaine au quotidien. Juan (Mahershala Ali), le \u00abdealer\u00bb respect\u00e9 du coin, aborde le gamin en douceur. Epris de compassion et cherchant \u00e0 l\u2019aider, il veut simplement conna\u00eetre son pr\u00e9nom et le reconduire chez lui. Le petit, sans doute surpris et de nature tacite, ne r\u00e9agit pas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abTu parles pas mais tu bouffes\u00bb, remarque, souriant, Juan, alors qu\u2019il a emmen\u00e9 le petit chez lui pour manger un morceau. C\u2019est sa femme, Teresa (Janelle Monae), douce et maternelle, qui r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 donner confiance \u00e0 Chiron. Le couple comprend vite sa situation d\u00e9licate: pas de p\u00e8re, m\u00e8re fragile. Elle se drogue et se prostitue. Son fils ne veut simplement plus rentrer \u00e0 la maison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C\u2019est ainsi que, progressivement, le jeune gar\u00e7on se trouve des parents adoptifs, sans abandonner totalement sa m\u00e8re, qui l\u2019exige chez elle, parfois violemment. La vie de Chiron, si elle trouve un soutien, ne devient pas moins dure. Adolescent, il demeure le souffre-douleur \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole. Il est diff\u00e9rent; trop fin et timide. On le traite de \u00abtapette\u00bb et on continue de le tabasser apr\u00e8s les cours; le quartier mis\u00e9reux n\u2019arrange pas la donne. Homosexuel, il l\u2019est vraiment. Sans l\u2019avoir choisi. Tel est le tourment dans une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 qui ne comprend pas, qui n\u2019accepte pas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 la l\u00e9gitimit\u00e9 plus ou moins cr\u00e9dible des Oscars \u2013 du meilleur film, meilleur sc\u00e9nario adapt\u00e9 et meilleur second r\u00f4le pour Mahershala Ali \u2013 la nouvelle r\u00e9alisation de l\u2019Afro-am\u00e9ricain Barry Jenkins inqui\u00e9tait. Lourde et superficielle e\u00fbt pu appara\u00eetre l\u2019\u0153uvre porteuse de la grande proph\u00e9tie. Homosexualit\u00e9 et n\u00e9gritude sont d\u2019habitude d\u00e9fendues avec tant de maladresse et furieuse ignorance. Les dites minorit\u00e9s \u00e9meuvent et provoquent incessamment le pire: une marginalisation ind\u00e9sirable. Qui plus est toujours m\u00e9diocre en sa forme. <i>Moonlight<\/i> a assum\u00e9 le d\u00e9fi. Et l\u2019a relev\u00e9 avec gr\u00e2ce. Ces propos sont n\u00e9anmoins faux, ou pour le moins partiellement. Certes, il est question de psychologie humaine dans ses mous et remous, mais le sujet se concentre pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment sur le fait homosexuel et noir. Le film est \u00e9minemment social. Le nier, c\u2019est refuser la diff\u00e9rence, pourtant expos\u00e9e d\u2019une allure missionnaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce n\u2019est pas pour rien que la totalit\u00e9 des acteurs sont noirs de peau, et les hommes tous tr\u00e8s virils, \u00e0 l\u2019exception de Chiron. Ce dernier n\u2019est tout bonnement pas comme les autres, malgr\u00e9 la classe et la race commune. Cette singularit\u00e9 du personnage voyage intacte \u00e0 travers les trois chapitres de l\u2019\u0153uvre. I. <i>Little<\/i>, II. <i>Chiron<\/i>, III. <i>Black<\/i>. Evolution de l\u2019anti-h\u00e9ros dans la permanence de sa sp\u00e9cificit\u00e9. La trag\u00e9die humaine que voici r\u00e9side dans le refus d\u2019une identit\u00e9, d\u2019un caract\u00e8re: un manque d\u2019amour pour la profondeur d\u2019une personne, en somme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parmi une multitude de r\u00e9ussites artistiques dans <i>Moonlight<\/i>, le jeu des acteurs est d\u00e9cisif. Tout particuli\u00e8rement celui des trois interpr\u00e8tes de Chiron dans les trois parties indiqu\u00e9es: celle de l\u2019enfance discrimin\u00e9e, l\u2019adolescence troubl\u00e9e et l\u2019\u00e2ge adulte \u00e9gar\u00e9. Alex Hibbert, Chiron enfant, se dresse en personnage principal absolu. M\u00eame si le protagoniste avance dans son \u00e2ge, c\u2019est sans cesse \u00e0 sa base enfantine que l\u2019on revient. Le regard baiss\u00e9, les membres squelettiques, le visage pur et le corps innocent interpellent le spectateur, au point de s\u2019attirer une naturelle affection. Tout un chacun voudrait adopter le moqu\u00e9 Little. Victime et rien que victime qu\u2019il est d\u2019une m\u00e8re, elle-m\u00eame victime d\u2019un syst\u00e8me am\u00e9ricain atterr\u00e9 et raciste des ann\u00e9es 1980.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ashton Sanders, Chiron adolescent, touchant par ses questionnements et sa r\u00e9sistance face \u00e0 la haine \u00e9crasante, le regard toujours aussi bas et percutant. Un jeune homme qui se d\u00e9couvre et peine \u00e0 se construire, diff\u00e9rent parmi ses semblables. Sexualit\u00e9 en \u00e9veil et am\u00e8rement mal \u00e0 son aise: comment comprendre d\u2019\u00eatre amoureux d\u2019un gar\u00e7on alors que celui-ci se vante de ses exploits aupr\u00e8s des filles?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vient enfin Trevante Rhodes, l\u2019adulte surnomm\u00e9 Black, bien b\u00e2ti. Il semble moins bon que ses deux pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseurs. En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, c\u2019est simplement une plus petite place qui lui est accord\u00e9e. D\u2019une part parce que l\u2019histoire identitaire est d\u00e9sormais \u00e9tablie, d\u2019autre part parce qu\u2019elle est ouverte sur une suite incertaine, voire impossible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/img_8662.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"982\" height=\"1334\" src=\"http:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/img_8662.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5915\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/img_8662.jpg 982w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/img_8662-110x150.jpg 110w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/img_8662-221x300.jpg 221w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/img_8662-768x1043.jpg 768w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/img_8662-754x1024.jpg 754w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/img_8662-585x795.jpg 585w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/img_8662-300x408.jpg 300w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/img_8662-600x815.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 982px) 100vw, 982px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Au-del\u00e0 des th\u00e8ses et des complexit\u00e9s passionnantes, ce qui fait de <i>Moonlight<\/i> un tr\u00e8s bon travail, c\u2019est sa photographie berc\u00e9e et bouscul\u00e9e par une musique au point. Les lumi\u00e8res, comme le laisse d\u00e9couvrir l\u2019affiche de promotion du film, s\u2019\u00e9panchent aupr\u00e8s du spectateur. Elles s\u2019expriment par leur subtil silence criant de d\u00e9tresse; du rose \u00e9c\u0153urant des n\u00e9ons d\u2019une chambre en prostitution chez la m\u00e8re, au bleu apais\u00e9 d\u2019un rivage sous le clair de lune, colorant le teint noir. Mais encore, la lumi\u00e8re du soleil cultivant la mer, et le beige sombre d\u2019une salle de classe oppressante, accompagnent Chiron dans le ressenti de son \u00e2me. Cela, sans aucun effet de forc\u00e9. Aussi, le mouvement de cam\u00e9ra fort actif et d\u00e9stabilisant est de la m\u00eame veine. Il ajoute cependant l\u2019impression de souffrir dans la vision du discrimin\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La musique, du rap le plus n\u00e8gre au violon classique tant\u00f4t lisse, tant\u00f4t pinc\u00e9, soul\u00e8ve l\u2019image d\u2019un mode nouveau. Si ce sont bien les luminosit\u00e9s qui portent les sentiments, les musiques, elles ne s\u2019en chargent point, ce qui reste pourtant le cas dans la plupart des long-m\u00e9trages, anciens comme r\u00e9cents. Les sons soufflent tragiquement la solitude de Little, grattent l\u2019\u00e9touffement de Chiron et glissent l\u2019introspection perdue de Black.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 les \u00e9loges, il faut, par souci d\u2019honn\u00eatet\u00e9, d\u00e9noncer une petite d\u00e9rive du film. Sa cause est s\u00fbrement commerciale, peut-\u00eatre d\u2019un simple mauvais go\u00fbt. Sous le reflet lunaire bleut\u00e9, le jeune homosexuel conna\u00eet le premier et unique baiser langoureux d\u2019un camarade, Kevin. Non, le probl\u00e8me ne vient pas d\u2019un \u00e9ventuel manque de pudeur \u2013 on en voit d\u2019habitude bien davantage et ce n\u2019est pas forc\u00e9ment un mal \u2013 mais d\u2019une trahison vis-\u00e0-vis du v\u00e9cu ardu du personnage principal. Le baiser vient tacher le drap transparent du drame: il est mensonge rouge sur fond blanc. Si Chiron est priv\u00e9 de d\u00e9guster \u00e0 l\u2019amour, qu\u2019il en soit priv\u00e9 totalement! La faute n\u2019est pas grave, mais elle retire une eau pr\u00e9cieuse \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9coulement d\u2019une larme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i>Moonlight<\/i> a du corps, du c\u0153ur et du sang. Qui coule.
