Yes, because we all know the song. After a <em>What have we done to God?<\/em> that made a mockery of cosmopolitan marriages and a\u00a0<em>With open arms<\/em> Clavier's garden was invaded by Roma people, the new business venture of the famous interpreter of Jacquouille seems to be following a downward spiral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now it's time for a deaf man to enter the rich man's life. A ridiculous deaf man whom no one understands, and who soon emerges as the fruit of one of Clavier's extramarital affairs. It's hard to laugh at this umpteenth French comedy based on nothing more than the adage \u00abyou can laugh at anything\u00bb. Of course, any object is a potential laughing matter, but it has to be served up with taste, especially in the cinema. Masterpieces <em>Le d\u00eener de cons<\/em> or\u00a0<em>Cabbage soup<\/em> may be French comedies with a \"beaufude\" twist, but they can't be seen as mere copies of \"br\u00e8ves de comptoir\". There's an art to beaufitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><em>Momo<\/em> avait du potentiel. L&#8217;irrempla\u00e7able Christian Clavier est accompagn\u00e9 par l&#8217;actrice Catherine Frot, qui fait partie des belles figures f\u00e9minines du cin\u00e9ma fran\u00e7ais actuel. De m\u00eame, le th\u00e8me de la tromperie, bien que mille fois trait\u00e9, a encore de beaux jours devant lui; il aurait pu \u00eatre amen\u00e9 avec une certaine originalit\u00e9, m\u00eame classique. H\u00e9las! \u00e7a ne prend pas. Le film manque de rythme. D&#8217;humour. Quelques r\u00e9pliques engendrent des ricanements dans la salle, pourtant bien remplie, mais rien de plus. Dommage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hormis quelques qualit\u00e9s telle la veine tragi-comique port\u00e9e par Catherine Frot ou la sc\u00e8ne du v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire qui m\u00e9riterait de figurer dans une meilleure com\u00e9die, le film en question d\u00e9\u00e7oit. Et cette d\u00e9ception se couronne par un insupportable\u00a0<em>happy end<\/em> d&#8217;une demi-heure, que le spectateur avait vu venir d\u00e8s le d\u00e9but, pour d\u00e9boucher sur une abjecte morale bisounours auquel l&#8217;acteur Clavier ne croit pas une seconde. Nous \u00e9tions venus pour rire; nous assistons pour finir \u00e0 la promotion du droit du sol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Write to the author: <a
