It's the friendship between an illiterate near-orphan and a literature lover in the tender world of an orphan. <em>La T\u00eate en friche<\/em>, is the pleasure of bringing back to the screen the complicity between two childhood friends in <em>Dialogue with my gardener,<\/em> but he's also a lonely man who alienates his entire family in one weekend in <em>Two days to kill<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Jean Becker, c\u2019est tout \u00e7a et bien plus encore, puiqu\u2019il a notamment film\u00e9 Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jean Seberg, Jacques Villeret, Emmanuelle B\u00e9art, G\u00e9rard Depardieu, Vanessa Paradis, Daniel Auteuil, Josiane Balasko et Albert Dupontel comme aucun autre r\u00e9alisateur. Pourquoi? Parce qu\u2019il filme son cin\u00e9ma. Parce qu\u2019il prend le risque de la simplicit\u00e9 et d\u2019une certaine rigidit\u00e9 dans la localisation de ses films: il en situe la majorit\u00e9 dans un lieu et ses alentours proches. Jouant du huis-clos et s\u2019en \u00e9cartant au gr\u00e9 des besoins de la trame. Un regard fait d\u2019humanit\u00e9 et de po\u00e9sie. Des sc\u00e9narios qui n\u00e9cessitent \u2013 s\u00fbrement \u2013 une entente parfaite entre les acteurs tant ils sont nus, sans artifices cin\u00e9matographiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Litt\u00e9rature n\u2019est pas cin\u00e9ma<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Un cin\u00e9ma simple est, paradoxalement, tr\u00e8s difficile \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser, puisqu\u2019il ne doit jamais tomber ni dans la p\u00e2le copie du quotidien ni dans la mauvaise reproduction du pass\u00e9. Un cin\u00e9ma \u00e0 d\u00e9couvrir absolument; mais en \u00e9vitant d\u2019y entrer par <em>Le Collier rouge<\/em>. Certes, la tension beckerienne \u2013 j\u2019ose le n\u00e9ologisme \u2013 existe bel et bien durant les face-\u00e0-face du commandant-juge Lantier (Fran\u00e7ois Cluzet) et du prisonnier Morlac (Nicolas Duvauchelle), tout comme lors des conversations du premier avec Valentine (Sophie Verbeek); mais il manque les gestes ou les regards pour la d\u00e9clencher efficacement. Bref, l\u2019\u00e9motion ne passe pas la fronti\u00e8re de l\u2019\u00e9cran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>A quoi est-ce d\u00fb? Peut-\u00eatre \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re de reproduire trop fid\u00e8lement \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cran la structure du roman que Jean Becker adapte (<em>Le collier rouge<\/em> de Jean-Christophe Rufin donc \u2013 qui a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9criture du film). Souvent, il y a l\u2019impression de filmer un livre. Des \u00e9pisodes qui se succ\u00e8dent d\u2019un lieu \u00e0 l\u2019autre sans qu\u2019il n\u2019y ait de v\u00e9ritable lien entre les sc\u00e8nes. C\u2019est l\u00e0 o\u00f9 se situe sans doute la diff\u00e9rence entre le langage de la litt\u00e9rature et celui du cin\u00e9ma. Le premier permet plus d\u2019espace \u00e0 l\u2019imagination du lecteur qui associe lui-m\u00eame les diff\u00e9rentes sc\u00e8nes, tandis que le second impose au spectateur des images et constitue le r\u00e9sultat des choix visuels du r\u00e9alisateur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Un malheureux manque de cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Le probl\u00e8me principal se situe sans doute au niveau du jeu des acteurs. Rappelons que la trame narrative traverse les \u00e9v\u00e9nements de la premi\u00e8re guerre mondiale. Une enqu\u00eate judiciaire est ouverte contre Morlac et sert de fil conducteur au film<em>. <\/em>Deux histoires s\u2019y superposent. D\u2019un c\u00f4t\u00e9, la relation particuli\u00e8re qu\u2019un chien fid\u00e8le entretient avec son ma\u00eetre alors qu\u2019ils ont combattu ensemble sur le front. Un animal qui d\u00e9fend ceux qu\u2019ils appr\u00e9cient \u00e0 tout prix et qui les rapproche aussi. De l\u2019autre c\u00f4t\u00e9, le myst\u00e8re autour du \u00abcrime patriotique\u00bb commis par Morlac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Encore une fois, ni la trame ni le sc\u00e9nario ne sont les principaux soucis, mais c\u2019est plut\u00f4t l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation des acteurs qui surprend, en mal cette fois-ci. Trop de sc\u00e8nes de face-\u00e0-face \u2013 pourtant, la sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 de Jean Becker jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u00e0, et je p\u00e8se mes mots&nbsp;\u2013 ne touchent pas, l\u2019amour est film\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re st\u00e9r\u00e9otyp\u00e9e, notamment les instants intimes entre Morlac et Valentine. Et l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9rale du village, les clients du bistrot et autres d\u00e9tails manquent de cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9. Tout s\u2019encha\u00eene trop rapidement, pas le temps de ressentir l\u2019attraction et le d\u00e9sir qui lient Morlac et Valentine ni la douloureuse s\u00e9paration que le couple subit lors de la mobilisation forc\u00e9e. On n\u2019y croit pas, et c\u2019est bien dommage. M\u00eame le rigide commandant-juge Lantier qui s\u2019attendrit notamment face au chien et au fil de la d\u00e9couverte du pass\u00e9 de Morlac ne fonctionne pas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Heureusement qu\u2019il y a les autres Becker<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Jean Becker \u2013 ou l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation de Nicolas Duvauchelle \u2013 n\u2019est pas parvenu \u00e0 rendre toute la complexit\u00e9 et les contradictions de Morlac \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cran comme elle appara\u00eet dans le roman de Jean-Christophe Rufin:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Ce qu\u2019il y avait de d\u00e9rangeant dans le personnage de Morlac apparaissait en pleine lumi\u00e8re. Lantier n\u2019avait pas d\u00e9cel\u00e9 jusque-l\u00e0 l\u2019origine de la m\u00e9fiance m\u00eal\u00e9e de fascination que le prisonnier lui inspirait. Voil\u00e0 que, tout \u00e0 coup, il comprenait: c\u2019\u00e9tait ce m\u00e9lange de r\u00e9serve et de m\u00e9galomanie, sa feinte modestie et sa conviction profonde d\u2019\u00eatre plus malin que les autres.
