Cosmatos. It features a happy, but already strange, couple living in a wooden house in the middle of a forest: Red, an endearing young man (played by the excellent Nicolas Cage) and Mandy, a daydreaming woman (played by Andrea Riseborough). Think she's a bit \u00abhippy\u00bb, a bit \u00abspiritual\u00bb? You ain't seen nothing yet. Because the Jesus freaks who suddenly turn up in this reclusive place and burn Mandy alive before her partner's eyes are of a completely different kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"MANDY Bande Annonce VF (2018) Nicolas Cage\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Mf_VveWh3h0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Une esth\u00e9tique psych\u00e9d\u00e9lique<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Le film s\u2019ouvre sur une introduction d\u00e9licieuse, port\u00e9e par un instrumental rock tr\u00e8s <em>soft<\/em> par rapport \u00e0 ce qui va suivre et une vue a\u00e9rienne mouvante au-dessus d\u2019une for\u00eat, motif par excellence des films d\u2019horreur. Or de film d\u2019horreur, il n\u2019est pas question ici. <em>Mandy<\/em>, on le comprend assez vite, est une exp\u00e9rimentation totalement <em>borderline<\/em>, qui se fonde avant tout sur une esth\u00e9tique particuli\u00e8re. Couleurs rouges, lumi\u00e8re sombre, ralentis, ambiance Black Sabbath, r\u00eaveries et hallucinations, musique pink-floydienne sign\u00e9e J\u00f3hann J\u00f3hannsson (d\u00e9j\u00e0 le nom&#8230;!), <em>Mandy<\/em> est psych\u00e9d\u00e9lique de bout en bout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Cette forme en dehors des marques engendre un film \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la plaque. Si l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re peut s\u2019av\u00e9rer int\u00e9ressante, quoiqu\u2019elle-m\u00eame \u00e9c\u0153ure \u00e0 force de guitares \u00e9lectriques satur\u00e9es et de r\u00e9verb\u00e9ration dans les voix, l\u2019intrigue en prend pour son grade. Point de frissons avec Mandy, mais du d\u00e9go\u00fbt. Peut-\u00eatre d\u2019aucuns peuvent-ils y trouver de la jouissance. Apr\u00e8s tout, il y a Baudelaire. N\u2019emp\u00eache, m\u00eame le sang semble parodique dans ce r\u00e9cit de vengeance qui se regarde comme une com\u00e9die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mystique contre psychotique<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Il reste tout de m\u00eame un \u00e9l\u00e9ment important \u00e0 sauver: si <em>Mandy<\/em> est un film de vengeance, il s\u2019agit plus de son pr\u00e9texte que de son propos. Le vrai th\u00e8me de ce film, ce sont la drogue et le fanatisme. L\u2019esth\u00e9tique psych\u00e9d\u00e9lique \u00e0 outrance prend alors tout son sens. J\u2019ai envie de r\u00e9pondre que si. \u00abLe psychotique se noie l\u00e0 o\u00f9 le mythique nage\u00bb, voil\u00e0 une tr\u00e8s belle phrase tir\u00e9e de la fin du film. La m\u00eame eau sombre les relie, et passer de la nage \u00e0 la noyade constitue un risque omnipr\u00e9sent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un m\u00eame danger guette ce film:\u00a0avec son d\u00e9lire visuel et auditif, <i>Mandy <\/i>risque de\u00a0nous d\u00e9go\u00fbter non seulement des psychotropes hallucinog\u00e8nes et des croyances irrationnelles, mais aussi du cin\u00e9ma.
