L&#8217;infirmi\u00e8re Jean Thomas (Jodie Foster) y accueille les criminels bless\u00e9s qui ne souhaitent pas \u00eatre reconnus dans les h\u00f4pitaux publics. A l&#8217;Hotel Artemis, ils prennent le nom de leur suite m\u00e9dicalis\u00e9e : Honolulu, Nice, Niagara, Acapulco. Mais l\u2019institution a des r\u00e8gles bien pr\u00e9cises \u00ab qui maintiennent le monde \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur\u00a0\u00bb : il faut \u00eatre adh\u00e9rent pour \u00eatre soign\u00e9, les armes ne rentrent pas et on ne tue pas les autres pensionnaires.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019endroit, tenu secret, appartient \u00e0 Mr. Franklin, tout comme la majorit\u00e9 de la ville de Los Angeles qui, en cette ann\u00e9e 2028, est plong\u00e9e dans de tr\u00e8s violentes \u00e9meutes dues \u00e0 des coupures d&#8217;eau. Mais lorsque Nice, s\u00e9duisante infiltr\u00e9e fran\u00e7aise (Sofia Boutella), a comme cible Niagara (Jeff Goldblum), Waikiki (Sterling K. Brown) a int\u00e9r\u00eat \u00e0 partir avant que les \u00e9v\u00e9nements ne d\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e8rent. D\u2019ailleurs, les r\u00e8gles ne sont-elles pas faites pour \u00eatre enfreintes ?<\/p>\n<p>Drew Pearce \u2013 sc\u00e9nariste pour certaines grandes productions hollywoodiennes, telles que <em>Iron Man 3\u00a0\u2013<\/em>\u00a0nous plonge dans l&#8217;action d\u00e8s la premi\u00e8re minute de <em>H\u00f4tel Artemis<\/em>, qui d\u00e9bute <em>in medias res<\/em> avec le branchage rat\u00e9 d&#8217;une banque. Enfin un film d&#8217;action \u00e0 proprement parler ! Le rythme et l&#8217;encha\u00eenement des sc\u00e8nes sont le point fort de ce long-m\u00e9trage haletant, prenant et r\u00e9ussit sur plusieurs plans. D&#8217;abord, il respecte les codes du genre : coups de feu, femmes sexy, moments touchants, explosions. <em>H\u00f4tel Artemis<\/em> s&#8217;inscrit donc dans la tradition, sans pour autant devenir pr\u00e9visible ou r\u00e9barbatif. Drew Pearce r\u00e9alise ici un excellent film d&#8217;action, port\u00e9 par de tr\u00e8s bons acteurs.<\/p>\n<p>Jodie Foster nous livre une <em>nurse<\/em> tr\u00e8s touchante, une femme marqu\u00e9e par la souffrance, qui a comme seule mission d&#8217;aider son prochain. Mais le v\u00e9ritable protagoniste est l\u2019Hotel m\u00eame ; le spectateur ne suit pas un personnage pr\u00e9cis mais plusieurs \u00e0 la fois, qui \u00e9voluent et se d\u00e9voilent au fil de l&#8217;histoire dans ce huis clos mouvement\u00e9. Il fait toujours nuit \u00e0 L.A. : l&#8217;Hotel Artemis ne voit pas la lumi\u00e8re du soleil, clin d&#8217;\u0153il \u00e0 la d\u00e9esse Artemis, associ\u00e9e \u00e0 la Lune, mais aussi \u00e0 la chasse et aux animaux sauvages. Ce refuge pour \u00eatres sauvages alterne une ambiance d\u00e9cadente ann\u00e9es 1970 \u00e0 une technologie m\u00e9dicale de pointe.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;image est relativement sombre, teint\u00e9e de rouges et de marrons. La musique est marquante, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses hits d&#8217;antan telles que <em>California Dreamin<\/em>&#8216; (1966) par The Mamas and the Papas, dont les paroles \u00ab I&#8217;d be safe and warm, if I was in L.A.\u00a0\u00bb d\u00e9tonnent compl\u00e8tement avec le climat d&#8217;ins\u00e9curit\u00e9 qui empreint la ville. La narration est lin\u00e9aire, mais pr\u00e9sente quelques <em>flashbacks<\/em>,\u00a0les souvenirs de notre infirmi\u00e8re ; ceux-ci sont, contrairement \u00e0 la noirceur du pr\u00e9sent, emplis de lumi\u00e8re, comme s&#8217;ils \u00e9taient suspendus dans le temps et dans l&#8217;espace. Au contraire, l&#8217;Hotel Artemis s&#8217;isncrit dans une unit\u00e9 de temps et de lieu pr\u00e9cises, o\u00f9 finalement nous d\u00e9couvrons les \u00e9v\u00e9nements \u00ab d&#8217;un simple
