{"id":16348,"date":"2018-07-16T20:00:31","date_gmt":"2018-07-16T18:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/?p=16348"},"modified":"2025-12-04T22:40:19","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T21:40:19","slug":"kasane-beauty-and-fate-or-the-blessing-of-beauty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/en\/cinema\/films\/kasane-beauty-and-fate-ou-la-benediction-de-la-beaute\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00abKasane - beauty and fate\u00bb, or the blessing of beauty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Neuch\u00e2tel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF)\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Thierry Fivaz<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00ab La beaut\u00e9 est une b\u00e9n\u00e9diction : elle permet de tout obtenir\u2026 m\u00eame quand elle n\u2019est qu\u2019illusion \u00bb.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Le mercredi 11 juillet, le NIFFF a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 en premi\u00e8re mondiale <i>Kasane\u00a0\u2013\u00a0beauty and fate<\/i>, une merveilleuse adaptation du manga de Daruma Matsuura r\u00e9compens\u00e9 par le Prix RTS du Public.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Au sortir d\u2019une salle de cin\u00e9ma, il est toujours agr\u00e9able de se dire que le film que l\u2019on vient de visionner a \u00e9t\u00e9 construit avec soin et minutie. Et c\u2019est ce qu\u2019on se dit lorsqu\u2019on sort de <i>Kasane\u00a0\u2013 beauty and fate<\/i>. Le d\u00e9fi ne devait pas \u00eatre sans risque, puisqu\u2019il s\u2019agit de l\u2019adaptation du <i>seinen<\/i>\u00a0<i>manga<\/i> de Daruma Matsuura (ndlr : un type de manga qui a pour cible \u00e9ditoriale les jeunes hommes de quinze \u00e0 trente ans), un manga qui conna\u00eet un v\u00e9ritable succ\u00e8s au Japon\u00a0depuis sa parution en 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Port\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cran par Sat\u00f4 Y\u00fbchi, le film raconte l\u2019histoire de Kasane (Kyoko Yoshine), fille de la brillante et sublime com\u00e9dienne Sukeyo Fuchi (Rei Dan). Cette derni\u00e8re, juste avant de mourir, l\u00e8gue \u00e0 sa fille Kasane un rouge \u00e0 l\u00e8vres magique qui, lorsqu\u2019elle le met, lui permet de s\u2019emparer momentan\u00e9ment de l\u2019apparence physique de la personne qu\u2019elle embrasse. C\u2019est une aubaine, puisqu\u2019au contraire de sa m\u00e8re, Kasane ne jouit pas d\u2019une telle beaut\u00e9. Une longue et profonde cicatrice d\u00e9figure son visage, lui suscitant insultes, moqueries et d\u00e9go\u00fbt des gens qui la voient.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Craignant les r\u00e9percussions que pourrait cependant causer un tel pouvoir, Kasane renonce \u00e0 employer son rouge \u00e0 l\u00e8vres\u00a0et pr\u00e9f\u00e8re s\u2019isoler, s\u2019effacer\u00a0; elle qui, pourtant, r\u00eave de devenir com\u00e9dienne comme le fut sa m\u00e8re.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Un r\u00eave inaccessible, jusqu\u2019au jour o\u00f9 elle fait la rencontre de Nina Tanzawa, interpr\u00e9t\u00e9e par la ravissante et excellente Tao Tsuchiya. Nina est une magnifique jeune femme qui aspire \u00e0 une seule chose\u00a0: devenir une grande com\u00e9dienne de th\u00e9\u00e2tre. Le probl\u00e8me est que la jeune femme se trouve d\u00e9pourvue de r\u00e9el talent. Or, du talent, Kasane, elle, en a \u00e0 revendre. La com\u00e9die, elle a \u00e7a dans le sang. Les deux jeunes femmes d\u00e9cident alors de s\u2019associer\u00a0: gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son rouge \u00e0 l\u00e8vres magique, Kasane va s\u2019emparer de l\u2019apparence de Nina, dont le visage d\u2019ange ne peut que ravir le public et s\u00e9duire les futurs metteurs en sc\u00e8ne. Cependant, la situation prendra, comme on peut s\u2019y attendre, des tournants inattendus.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Jeu de miroir et sym\u00e9trie<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Si l\u2019adaptation semble respecter l\u2019\u0153uvre initiale, Sat\u00f4 Y\u00fbchi en fait en tout cas un objet particuli\u00e8rement int\u00e9ressant. En effet,\u00a0<i>Kasane<\/i> peut s\u2019envisager comme un immense jeu de miroir et de sym\u00e9tries d\u00e9multipli\u00e9 \u00e0 diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9chelles. Ce miroir nous pr\u00e9sente parfois notre propre reflet, peu flatteur d\u2019ailleurs, en nous interrogeant sur la r\u00e9vulsion presque pavlovienne que nous inspire la laideur et l\u2019horreur comme celles du visage de Kasane. Mais le miroir est \u00e9galement pr\u00e9sent dans la double mise en ab\u00eeme qu\u2019\u00e0 deux reprises au moins le film repr\u00e9sente : nous regardons un film montrant des acteurs qui jouent \u00e0 \u00eatre des personnages qui eux-m\u00eames jouent le r\u00f4le de com\u00e9diens jouant dans une pi\u00e8ce de th\u00e9\u00e2tre. Sans oublier les miroirs contraires que sont les deux personnages principaux : l\u2019une est belle, l\u2019autre est laide. Sa laideur, d\u2019ailleurs, c\u2019est justement \u00e0 travers un miroir que Kazane l\u2019entrevoit\u00a0; alors que Nina, elle, peut, \u00e0 l\u2019image de V\u00e9nus, y contempler sa d\u00e9licate et virginale beaut\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ce jeu de miroir et de sym\u00e9trie se fait m\u00eame ext\u00e9rieur au r\u00e9cit. <i>La Mouette<\/i> que Kasane joue sous les traits de Nina parle aussi de la m\u00e8re de Kazane qui demeure un lourd passif avec lequel vivre ; Kasane souffre toujours de la comparaison entre elle et sa m\u00e8re, \u00e0 l\u2019image de la m\u00e8re de Constantin de la pi\u00e8ce de Tchekhov. Une pi\u00e8ce de th\u00e9\u00e2tre qui a d\u2019ailleurs comme personnage la jeune Nina Mikha\u00eflovna Zaretchna\u00efa : celle-ci, comme Nina\u00a0Tanzawa, r\u00eave de devenir une grande com\u00e9dienne, mais n\u2019y parviendra jamais. Le jeu se poursuit m\u00eame dans la seconde pi\u00e8ce que Kasane devra jouer et qui est la <i>Salom\u00e9<\/i> d\u2019Oscar Wilde.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Masque et masquons<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Dans <i>Kasane<\/i>, le masque occupe \u00e9galement une place particuli\u00e8re. Lorsqu\u2019elle joue un personnage, Kasane le fait en <i>empruntant<\/i>, \u00e9changeant son visage avec celui de la belle Nina. En quelque sorte, Kasane endosse ici un double masque\u00a0: celui de Nina d\u2019une part, et celui, d\u2019autre part, du personnage qu\u2019elle doit interpr\u00e9ter. Mais m\u00eame descendu de sc\u00e8ne, Kasane conserve le masque ou visage de Nina et joue \u00e0 \u00eatre Nina. Personne en effet n\u2019est au courant de son secret, ou ne l\u00e8ve le masque\u00a0; pas m\u00eame Monsieur\u00a0Ugo (Yu Yokoyama), un jeune metteur en sc\u00e8ne talentueux qui se passionne pour la com\u00e9dienne Nina \u2013 ou plut\u00f4t, Kasane sous les traits de Nina \u2013\u00a0et la fait jouer dans son adaptation de <i>La Mouette<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A ce propos, il n\u2019aura manqu\u00e9 \u00e0 personne que les r\u00e9f\u00e9rences qui pars\u00e8ment\u00a0<i>Kasane \u2013\u00a0beauty and fate\u00a0<\/i>se font particuli\u00e8rement occidentales, \u00e0 l\u2019instar de Tchekhov, Wilde, ou Cendrillon \u2013 apr\u00e8s avoir embrass\u00e9 Nina, Kasane peut profiter de son apparence durant un certain laps de temps\u00a0; une fois ce temps d\u00e9pass\u00e9, comme Cendrillon, la magie dispara\u00eet et Kasane redevient Kasane. Si d\u2019aucuns pouvaient regretter cette europ\u00e9anisation du r\u00e9cit au d\u00e9triment d\u2019un ancrage plus japonais, les r\u00e9f\u00e9rences dont se nourrit le cin\u00e9ma japonais peuvent parfois s\u2019av\u00e9rer difficiles d\u2019acc\u00e8s pour le n\u00e9ophyte. Aussi est-il bienvenu que le cin\u00e9ma japonais rev\u00eate parfois un masque qui nous est familier et \u00e0 travers lequel nous pouvons d\u00e9celer l\u2019immense capacit\u00e9 de ce cin\u00e9ma \u00e0 cr\u00e9er des \u0153uvres aux facettes multiples, qui communiquent entre elles, se r\u00e9pondent et prennent plaisir \u00e0 jouer avec leurs personnages et les r\u00e9cits qui les composent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Finalement,<i> Kasane \u2013\u00a0beauty and fate <\/i>est un film origami r\u00e9alis\u00e9\u00a0en papier miroir et qui forme un objet particuli\u00e8rement coh\u00e9rent. Un long-m\u00e9trage compos\u00e9 de trois mouvements qui parvient, avec rythme, et gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la performance remarquable de Kyoko Yoshine (Kasane\/Nina) et surtout de Tao Tsuchiya (Nina\/Kasane), \u00e0 tenir le spectateur en haleine et qui n\u2019a alors qu&#8217;une seule question\u00a0: l\u2019entente entre les deux jeunes femmes arrivera-t-elle \u00e0 perdurer\u00a0?<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>A propos du manga<em>\u00a0Kasane <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u2013 La Voleuse de visage<\/em> :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Kasane \u2013 La Voleuse de visage<\/em> est un <em>seinen manga<\/em> \u00e9crit par la mangaka Daruma Matsuura. Un manga particuli\u00e8rement r\u00e9cent, puisqu\u2019il fut publi\u00e9 pour la premi\u00e8re fois au cours de l&#8217;ann\u00e9e 2013 au Japon et traduit d\u00e8s 2016 en Fran\u00e7ais. Comptant actuellement douze tomes (le treizi\u00e8me et dernier est pour novembre),\u00a0<em>Kasane \u2013 La Voleuse de visage<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>fut\u00a0nomin\u00e9 en 2015 pour les prestigieux Taisho Awards ainsi que pour le prix du manga Kodansha. Depuis le d\u00e9but de sa publication,\u00a0<em>Kasane \u2013 La Voleuse de visage<\/em>\u00a0est un v\u00e9ritable succ\u00e8s \u00e9ditorial et captive de nombreux lecteurs
