For one night a year, American citizens are allowed to commit all crimes and express all negativity. Once the twelve hours have passed, crimes committed during the purge are not prosecuted, and life returns to normal. In this fourth film, director Gerard McMurray presents the origins of this murderous tradition, which took place in a town on an isolated island in the USA.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>One film too many<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The \u00abNew Founding Fathers\u00bb took charge of the United States and decided to set up an experimental project aimed at lowering the crime rate. The new concept was the brainchild of sociologist May Updale, and her ideas quickly caught on with the new US government. The only problem is that Dr. Updale and the government don't see eye-to-eye on this experiment, which is merely a psycho-social test for the sociologist, whereas the politicians see it as in the country's economic interest.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Cette divergence des id\u00e9es est tr\u00e8s mal amen\u00e9e dans le film et tout devient extr\u00eamement pr\u00e9visible. Aucune intrigue ne s\u2019installe car les antagonistes, les \u00ab\u00a0Nouveaux P\u00e8res Fondateurs\u00a0\u00bb, ne cachent rien aux spectateurs et expriment tr\u00e8s maladroitement leurs intentions avec la Purge. Ce quatri\u00e8me film n\u2019apporte donc rien de plus \u00e0 l\u2019histoire cont\u00e9e depuis les premiers <em>American Nightmare.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Messages adress\u00e9s aux Etats-Unis<\/h3>\n<p>M\u00eame si le concept de la Purge est extr\u00eame, voire absurde pour le commun des mortels, il faut tout de m\u00eame affirmer qu&#8217;il est proprement une critique de nos soci\u00e9t\u00e9s occidentales et en particulier celle des Etats-Unis. On per\u00e7oit clairement la persistance des clivages entre les diff\u00e9rentes communaut\u00e9s et notamment la pr\u00e9sence encore constante d&#8217;un racisme contres les Afro-Am\u00e9ricains et les Latinos. Ce sentiment d&#8217;un pays en plein chamboulement et d&#8217;une hostilit\u00e9 en croissance d\u00e9note tr\u00e8s clairement de l&#8217;attitude controvers\u00e9e de Trump depuis son \u00e9lection en 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 la pauvret\u00e9 sc\u00e9naristique du film et le jeu passablement mauvais des acteurs, la Purge sonne comme un avertissement d&#8217;une limite \u00e0 ne jamais franchir.\u00a0Finalement,\u00a0<em>American Nightmare 4<\/em>\u00a0montre \u00e0 quel point l&#8217;imagination des Hommes peut d\u00e9passer la morale et que, m\u00eame si notre monde a d\u00e9j\u00e0 connu nombre d&#8217;horreurs, les id\u00e9es destructrices ne s&#8217;\u00e9puisent jamais.<\/p>\n<p><em>Write to the author :\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:marina.detoro@leregardlibre.ch\">marina.detoro@leregardlibre.ch<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Cr\u00e9dit photo : \u00a9 Universal Pictures Int.
