For the second time in its history, the Pierrot Productions association had invited its sponsors, partners and friends to preview its new short film entitled <em>Crossroads<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Soufflant d\u00e9j\u00e0 sa deuxi\u00e8me bougie, l\u2019association d\u2019\u00e9tudiants Pierrot Productions \u2013\u00a0fond\u00e9e par Kylian Henchoz et Cyrill Burri\u00a0\u2013 a pour ambition de faire conna\u00eetre aux \u00e9tudiants de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Neuch\u00e2tel le domaine de l\u2019audiovisuel. Pour ce faire, les membres de l\u2019association ont pour coutume de se donner rendez-vous la premi\u00e8re semaine de juillet afin de r\u00e9aliser un court-m\u00e9trage. Une magnifique opportunit\u00e9 qui permet, le temps d\u2019un \u00e9t\u00e9, de transformer une \u00e9tudiante en langue et litt\u00e9rature fran\u00e7aise en <em>camerawoman<\/em> avertie, ou un futur anthropologue en producteur-logisticien accompli. Un d\u00e9fi d\u2019envergure qui exige une longue pr\u00e9paration en amont.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ce d\u00e9fi, l\u2019association l\u2019avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 relev\u00e9 en 2017 pour la r\u00e9alisation de son premier \u00abcourt\u00bb. Intitul\u00e9 <em>Sucre d\u2019Ogre<\/em> (pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 derni\u00e8rement au Festival romand du court-m\u00e9trage \u00e0 Yverdon-les-Bains), ce court-m\u00e9trage narrait l\u2019histoire d\u2019un petit gar\u00e7on confront\u00e9 aux difficult\u00e9s \u00e9conomiques et conjugales de ses parents et qui, pour \u00e9chapper \u00e0 la triste situation, s\u2019\u00e9vadait \u00e0 travers le jeu. Une premi\u00e8re production qui avait fait le choix audacieux de s\u2019inscrire dans le genre fantastique.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Si ce premier court-m\u00e9trage ne manquait pas de qualit\u00e9s, autant dire que pour leur second, Pierrot Productions a mis les petits plats dans les grands. Sur la forme, la progression \u2013\u00a0que ce soit au niveau de l\u2019image ou du son\u00a0\u2013 est particuli\u00e8rement \u00e9difiante, voire exponentielle. Pour atteindre ce r\u00e9sultat, l\u2019\u00e9quipe technique a su jouer de cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9 et d\u2019inventivit\u00e9: un <em>travelling<\/em> arri\u00e8re, pris depuis le coffre d\u2019une voiture avec un drone entre les jambes ou des souffleurs \u00e0 feuille utilis\u00e9s pour projeter des centaines de feuilles de papier \u00e0 travers l\u2019embrasure d\u2019une fen\u00eatre. Mais hormis ce saut qualitatif impressionnant pour des passionn\u00e9s non professionnels, c\u2019est par son sc\u00e9nario que <em>Crossroads<\/em> parvient \u00e0 se distinguer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Sortant tout droit de l\u2019imaginaire de Margaux Farron (\u00e9tudiante en lettres et sciences humaines), <em>Crossroads<\/em> nous raconte l\u2019histoire de M\u00e9line, une vieille dame qui vit seule dans sa grande maison et qui, pour contrer l\u2019ennui, collectionne \u2013\u00a0depuis plus de dix ans\u00a0\u2013 les grilles de ses mots crois\u00e9s. Mais un jour, alors qu\u2019elle compl\u00e8te la grille portant le num\u00e9ro\u00a01952, la vieille dame se voit entra\u00een\u00e9e dans une curieuse conversation qui la fera alors d\u00e9ambuler dans ses souvenirs. Po\u00e9tique, initiatique, ponctu\u00e9 de <em>flashback<\/em> tendres et innocents \u2013\u00a0comme des moments pass\u00e9s avec son bien-aim\u00e9 Martin\u00a0\u2013, la vieille dame semble comme remonter le temps perdu, un temps ou la vieillesse n\u2019\u00e9tait pas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Le court-m\u00e9trage, \u00e7a se sait, n\u2019est pas un format facile \u00e0 appr\u00e9hender. Beaucoup de r\u00e9alisateurs \u2013\u00a0m\u00eame prestigieux\u00a0\u2013 ne sont parvenus \u00e0 dompter r\u00e9ellement ce format \u2013\u00a0un format sur lequel, souvent, on se rabat faute de moyens. Il arrive ainsi que les courts-m\u00e9trages soient d\u00e9cousus, sans queue ni t\u00eate, ou r\u00e9ductibles \u00e0 des sc\u00e8nes de long-m\u00e9trage; ne poss\u00e9dant d\u00e8s lors nulle conclusion, voire aucun sens. Fait plus rare et plus heureux, il arrive en quelques occasions qu\u2019un court-m\u00e9trage nous charme par sa narration, son image ou son univers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">En cela, sans doute que le choix de la jeune r\u00e9alisatrice Margaux Farron de \u00ablimiter l\u2019usage de la parole\u00bb participe \u00e0 la r\u00e9ussite de ce court-m\u00e9trage qui parvient avec d\u00e9licatesse et subtilit\u00e9 \u00e0 communiquer le quotidien d\u2019une vieille dame. Un quotidien qui se vit au rythme de la Traviata de Verdi, et des mots (crois\u00e9s). Ceux-l\u00e0 m\u00eames que l\u2019on entend si rarement, mais qui, pourtant, emplissent de leur pr\u00e9sence cette existence dont la vie est, sans doute, d\u00e9j\u00e0
