But can we talk about these codes when it comes to Johnny... <em>Johnny English strikes back<\/em>? Certainly, up to a certain point. That point where parody takes over. That point where everything goes to hell.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more Lire la critique (en libre acc\u00e8s)-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JL9AxH10D10\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That's what it's all about! The return of Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson) to MI7, now a professor of geography or rather geocamouflage, is imminent after a massive cyberattack on London and then on the whole of England. All other agents were identified or even killed after the hack. We say geocamouflage because the former secret agent teaches his pupils secret service techniques rather than the topography of England. But that's just a detail!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He returns to the service of Her Majesty. He is, however, slightly overwhelmed by all the new technologies. Geolocation: unknown to him. Augmented reality: unknown to radars. The <em>smartphones<\/em>Avoid at all costs. Tablets: not his thing. Hybrid vehicles: useless. It's precisely at the moment of choosing the car that the farce begins. Because, yes, it's much more of a farce than anything to do with the British secret service. Not surprising for a franchise like Johnny English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A half-film film<strong><br><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C\u2019est l\u00e0 que la balle blesse! L\u2019impression de d\u00e9j\u00e0-vu, de r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration et du m\u00eame film qu\u2019on revoit \u00e0 l\u2019infini. Comme les bandes-annonces avant le d\u00e9but de la s\u00e9ance d&rsquo;ailleurs: le grinch en 3D ou un \u00e9pisode de plus d\u2019une s\u00e9rie d\u00e9riv\u00e9e de <em>Harry Potter<\/em>. At the same time, Christmas is coming. Hollywood also wants to give presents. So no one is surprised by Johnny English's failed infiltration of the so-called hacker's yacht. Everything goes wrong, as planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On le sait avant m\u00eame l\u2019escalade sur le pont du bateau avec des bottes magn\u00e9tiques. Aucun \u00e9tonnement ni impr\u00e9vus durant tout le film. Nous aurions aim\u00e9 un peu plus de fond \u00e0 toute cette histoire, en d\u00e9veloppant par exemple la tension propre \u00e0 tout bon film d\u2019espionnage. M\u00eame si ce n&rsquo;est pas la priorit\u00e9 d&rsquo;une com\u00e9die. Faire en sorte que le spectateur ne s\u2019attende pas toujours \u00e0 ce qui suit. Lui faire perdre la piste. Les sc\u00e8nes drolatiques ne seraient-elles pas encore plus hilarantes?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beaucoup de rires, \u00e9norm\u00e9ment m\u00eame; c\u2019est une r\u00e9ussite \u00e0 ce niveau. M\u00eame si l\u2019on regrette le format que le r\u00e9alisateur David Kerr a choisi. C&rsquo;est une succession de mini-sketchs. Rowan Atkinson n\u2019a toutefois rien perdu de ses talents d\u2019amuseur et rend le film meilleur. Il nous offre notamment deux sc\u00e8nes cultes. Oui! elles existent encore! La premi\u00e8re est une danse impr\u00e9vue et sans fin qui d\u00e9bouchera sur une avanc\u00e9e majeure dans l\u2019enqu\u00eate. En d\u00e9voiler plus serait un l\u00e8se-majest\u00e9 \u2013 jamais si bien plac\u00e9 je crois. La seconde est une travers\u00e9e inattendue et violemment comique de Londres avec des lunettes de r\u00e9alit\u00e9 augment\u00e9e sur les yeux. Encore une fois, l\u2019enqu\u00eate avance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nothing new in <em>Johnny English strikes back<\/em>. Same old, same old. In the end, all that remains is the realization that Rowan Atkinson has lost none of his superb comic talent. He's brilliant! Simply brilliant. So brilliant, in fact, that he single-handedly makes the film. We would have liked to see him appear in a different register at times. It's a success for the actor, but a shame for the director. Why didn't David Kerr try to bring more emotion, suspense or something new out of the franchise?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Write to the author: <a
