Or rather, a place with several of them. For the people of Neuch\u00e2tel, the address may not seem obvious, but it's in Lausanne, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zelig.ch\/\"><strong>Zelig<\/strong><\/a><strong> is an institution. Founded almost thirty years ago by a number of UNIL students, the association, which defines itself as a \u00abmeeting place\u00bb rather than a bar per se, brings together a multitude of activities under its umbrella.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>There are association evenings, concerts, jams, debates, conferences, table soccer and chibre tournaments, and screenings, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zelig.ch\/programme\/\">and more<\/a>. You can enjoy a coffee in the morning, a sandwich at lunchtime or a beer after class, get your bike repaired, revise, relax on the famous sofas, devour a comic book, and even practice your backhand at ping-pong when the weather's nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A veritable Swiss Army knife in one of UNIL's last buildings, the G\u00e9opolis (Zelig used to be housed in a wing of the Anthropole, now a day-care center), the place acts as a bubble of fresh air in a mostly mineral, ultra-modern and aseptic space. Squatted by students, teaching assistants and professors alike, it's a place for informal encounters and a welcome exchange of ideas in an academic world that can sometimes be too compartmentalized. And when I said that Zelig's bar function was almost anecdotal...<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it's Friday, and we're here to talk beers. So let's talk beers, because the vast majority of students outside Zelig's circle of regulars still come mainly to have a drink. <em>binch<\/em>, and music (every Thursday evening). The bar offers a varied, cutting-edge selection of beers from all over the world, to satisfy dilettantes with a taste for the world's best beer. <em>lager<\/em> These include local vintages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1236\" height=\"1272\" src=\"http:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Logo-Zelig.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18118\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Logo-Zelig.png 1236w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Logo-Zelig-146x150.png 146w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Logo-Zelig-292x300.png 292w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Logo-Zelig-768x790.png 768w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Logo-Zelig-995x1024.png 995w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Logo-Zelig-1200x1235.png 1200w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Logo-Zelig-1170x1204.png 1170w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Logo-Zelig-585x602.png 585w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Logo-Zelig-300x309.png 300w, https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Logo-Zelig-600x617.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1236px) 100vw, 1236px\" \/><figcaption>The Zelig logo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As I write these lines, you'll find the succulent <em>Hold Hop<\/em> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lanebuleuse.ch\/\">Nebula<\/a>&nbsp;(my current favorite, but watch out for the ABV!), the sunny <em>Californication<\/em> from <a href=\"http:\/\/cotewest.ch\/\">West Coast<\/a>, the aptly named <em>Freshness<\/em> with basil <a href=\"http:\/\/brasserietroisdames.ch\/\">Three Ladies<\/a>, the white one <em>Salamander<\/em> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brasseriebfm.ch\/\">BFM<\/a>, the tangy one<em> Harvest Sour<\/em> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.docteurgabs.ch\/\">Dr. Gab's<\/a>, as well as the two beers of the moment, the <em>Vermeille<\/em> from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lance-pierre.ch\/\">Lance-Pierre<\/a>  and the <em>Lemonworld<\/em>, a <em>collab\u2019<\/em> between <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whitefrontier.ch\/\">Whitefrontier<\/a>&nbsp;and N\u00e9buleuse - don't wait long for them! Ask about our bottled wines, too, as they often contain little nuggets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you're hungry for more, there's another Lausanne hotspot to quench your thirst on the EPFL campus. This is <a href=\"https:\/\/satellite.bar\/\">Satellite<\/a>, Zelig's polytechnic counterpart, just as famous in the student community, with a menu that would make the region's best beer bars pale into insignificance.
