A succession of unfortunate decisions leads him to lose everything. Alongside Vova, an eccentric native in her fifties, and his mother and daughter, Lukas learns to live with nothing: no boss, no salary, no minister, no police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"First trailer for Roman Bondarchuk&#039;s Karlovy Vary premiere &#039;Volcano&#039; (exclusive)\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/reYcx5ZXbPE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So, yes, you could say that this film is very\u00a0<em>kafkaesque!<\/em>, But isn't it more a way of letting people know that, one day, you've read something other than Marc L\u00e9vy and that, deep down, you're a complex being too?\u00a0<em>cultured<\/em>?  Because if <em>Volcano<\/em> manages to raise a smile or two through the absurdity of certain situations - an absurdity that could have been exploited more fully - it is above all a 106-minute long film during which we wonder where the director intends to take us. So I'll spare you this boring review and suggest you reread the FIFF program to see something else. Otherwise, you can always read the excellent reviews of <em>Regard Libre<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overheard at the end of the screening: \u00abIt was poetic, but it didn't make sense, and at the same time, war doesn't make sense\u00bb.
