A <em>mouth<\/em>, of course. A prestigious filmography, of course. And the favor of director Jim Jarmusch, too. Directed on several occasions by the latter, it was in <em>The dead don't die<\/em>, presented as the opening film and in competition for the Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, that he has chosen to bring together all his \u00abmuses\u00bb. An explosive cast, daring choices, a resolutely kitsch aesthetic, ambiguous morals and a humor that is, to say the least, peculiar: it borders on the nanare or verges on the genius. The choice is yours.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more Lire la suite de la critique-->\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><figure><iframe src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/d9nNEBRgVLA\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/figure><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">D\u00e9tourner les codes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Apr\u00e8s s\u2019\u00eatre attaqu\u00e9 aux vampires dans <em>Only lovers left alive<\/em>, c\u2019est l\u2019autre figure moribonde de la culture populaire, le mort-vivant, qu\u2019exploite Jim Jarmusch dans son dernier film. Dans cette dystopie baroque, le r\u00e9alisateur n\u2019h\u00e9site pas \u00e0 forcer le trait parodique manifeste d\u00e9j\u00e0 dans une certaine veine du cin\u00e9ma zombiesque, volontiers d\u00e9cal\u00e9 et enclin \u00e0 se pasticher lui-m\u00eame. Des dialogues vides de sens, des r\u00e9actions inappropri\u00e9es, voire m\u00eame disproportionn\u00e9es, le m\u00e9lange des registres tragique et comique, des personnages caricaturaux, une trame des plus attendues, une fin peu originale d\u00e9voil\u00e9e depuis les premi\u00e8res images dans une mise en abime ing\u00e9nieuse, nous voil\u00e0 bien dans une \u0153uvre, <em>a priori<\/em>, sans queue ni t\u00eate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Absurde, elle l\u2019est, au sens strict du terme bien s\u00fbr, mais \u00e9galement dans son acception philosophique et litt\u00e9raire. On ne peut s\u2019emp\u00eacher, de faire le parall\u00e8le avec le traitement des sujets graves tel que pratiqu\u00e9 par les dramaturges du th\u00e9\u00e2tre de l\u2019absurde, \u00e0 la fois s\u00e9rieux et bouffon, dr\u00f4le et acerbe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Faire r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir&#8230;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>La radio et le journal t\u00e9l\u00e9vis\u00e9 ne cessent de le r\u00e9p\u00e9ter, la Terre a d\u00e9vi\u00e9 de son axe et les cons\u00e9quences pourraient \u00eatre d\u00e9sastreuses, d\u2019ailleurs les catastrophes naturelles ne cessent de se multiplier. \u00c0 Centerville, on remarque bien que le soleil d\u00e9borde sur la nuit et que la lune impose sa pr\u00e9sence en pleine journ\u00e9e. On voit aussi que les animaux et les insectes ont des comportements \u00e9tranges et finissent par dispara\u00eetre. Entre scepticisme et nonchalance, l\u2019Homme, lui, est le seul qui ne r\u00e9agit pas. Et quand bien m\u00eame il aurait d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de le faire, il est trop tard, les morts sortent de leurs tombes, pr\u00eats \u00e0 en finir avec le genre humain&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Et \u00e0 tout faire pour trouver du wifi, boire un dernier verre de Chardonnay ou se shooter au caf\u00e9! \u00c0 croire, comme le laisse penser le film avec un peu trop d\u2019insistance peut-\u00eatre, qu\u2019\u00e0 notre image et \u00e0 cause de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de consommation, m\u00eame les zombies seraient devenus d\u00e9biles, incapables de se concentrer sur la seule t\u00e2che qui leur a \u00e9t\u00e9 assign\u00e9e, manger des cerveaux. Si les morts ne meurent pas et que les vivants ne vivent pas, si les d\u00e9terr\u00e9s sont encore ali\u00e9n\u00e9s par les addictions et que les humains sont vou\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019inaction, quelle fin possible reste-t-il pour notre monde?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Dead-Dont-Die-Szenen-ov-01-Scene-Picture-2.jpg\" alt=\"THE DEAD DON'T DIE\" class=\"wp-image-20708\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8230; et surtout divertir?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Pr\u00e9senter le film sous cet aspect uniquement ne lui rend toutefois pas hommage. Entre effets sp\u00e9ciaux grotesques (vraiment!), panoplie de stars, jeux de mots aussi mauvais que brillants, il faut avouer que Jarmusch a d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 de nombreux moyens pour casser le discours moralisant de cette fable climatologique. Comique de situation, de caract\u00e8re, de mots, de gestes et surtout de r\u00e9p\u00e9tition, on rit souvent, mais on d\u00e9croche aussi parfois. Ce qui fait la qualit\u00e9 de ce film, \u00e0 savoir une esth\u00e9tique ridicule pouss\u00e9 \u00e0 son paroxysme et qui s\u2019assumer comme telle, est \u00e9galement ce qui, \u00e0 la longue, peut lasser. Je pense ici notamment \u00e0 l\u2019humour tour \u00e0 tour fin et lourdingue et au foisonnement de r\u00e9f\u00e9rences \u00e0 la <em>pop culture<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si certaines sont plut\u00f4t subtiles (soyez attentifs au g\u00e9n\u00e9rique de d\u00e9but notamment) et ne peuvent \u00eatre comprises que par un public averti de <em>geeks<\/em>, d\u2019autres sont quelque peu forc\u00e9es, trop abondantes et grossi\u00e8rement amen\u00e9es. Pas de <em>spoil<\/em>ici, je ne souhaite nullement divulg\u00e2cher des informations, mais attendez-vous (\u00e9videmment) \u00e0 voir passer <em>Le Seigneur des Anneaux<\/em>, <em>Star Wars<\/em>, <em>Kill Bill<\/em>, parmi tant d\u2019autres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un film coinc\u00e9 dans l\u2019entre-deux<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans la salle les rires se m\u00ealent \u00e0 des soupirs alors que certains, peu, rient \u00e0 gorge d\u00e9ploy\u00e9e. Mon avis est \u00e0 cette image, mitig\u00e9. J\u2019ai pass\u00e9 un bon moment, j\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 stimul\u00e9e intellectuellement mais je me suis \u00e9galement ennuy\u00e9e parfois et j\u2019ai aussi \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9pit\u00e9e par le manque de finesse de certains partis pris. Je m\u2019interroge en particulier sur l\u2019efficience du monologue final dont le ton est particuli\u00e8rement moralisateur alors que tout avait \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en place pour \u00e9viter cet \u00e9cueil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous mettre face \u00e0 nos contradictions, souligner l\u2019aspect absurde de notre comportement aurait apport\u00e9 de la fra\u00eecheur dans le traitement de cette th\u00e9matique et aurait pu interpeler, voire toucher, le public de mani\u00e8re plus efficace que par les discours pessimistes et les sermons habituels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure
