Led by Nicola Mauskovic, who defines his music as \u00aba mix of disco, jazz and afro-beat played in a post-punk style\u00bb, these \u00abunschooled\u00bb musicians put on a show of their own. <\/em>show<em> on the D\u00e9tour stage this Wednesday, July 24. Beforehand, the drummer and composer, accompanied by a few beers, offered us some answers. Fragmented, just like their crazy music.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more Lire l'entretien-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Le Regard Libre<\/em>: Vous dites que vous puisez dans des influences afro-latines et psych\u00e9d\u00e9liques. Comment cela se fait-il?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nicola Mauskovic: Nous sommes principalement influenc\u00e9s par la musique que nous \u00e9coutons \u00e0 un certain moment. Actuellement, il s\u2019agit surtout d\u2019un m\u00e9lange de musique africaine plut\u00f4t ancienne et de cumbia. Quand on commence \u00e0 faire de la musique, toutes ces influences se mettent ensemble et prennent part au son que nous cr\u00e9ons sans que cela se fasse consciemment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Comment d\u00e9cririez-vous votre \u00e9volution\nmusicale?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous avons d\u2019abord \u00e9t\u00e9 surtout influenc\u00e9s par la cumbia, parce que notre batteur jouait dans un groupe de cumbia \u00e0 Amsterdam. De plus en plus d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments disco se sont ensuite ajout\u00e9s. Puis, nous avons gliss\u00e9 vers une vague plut\u00f4t post-punk: notre son est devenu de plus en plus grunge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vous travaillez en famille dans le Mauskauvic\nDance Band. Comment collaborez-vous entre vous?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oui, je joue avec mes cousins. \u00c7a se passe vraiment bien: nous nous connaissons depuis tr\u00e8s longtemps. A quelques exceptions pr\u00e8s, nous nous entendons \u00e0 merveille: nous nous sentons tr\u00e8s li\u00e9s. Nous avons grandi en \u00e9coutant la m\u00eame musique. Nous travaillons ensemble depuis le lyc\u00e9e. D\u2019abord, nous jouions beaucoup ensemble dans de vieux clubs de jazz. Nous nous sommes ensuite s\u00e9par\u00e9s: j\u2019ai fait d\u2019autres choses, tout le monde est parti \u00e9tudier dans des endroits diff\u00e9rents et avait d\u2019autres projets. Ce ne sont jamais vraiment des histoires; plut\u00f4t quelque chose de vraiment fragment\u00e9. Je ne crois pas que ce soit le point central de notre musique.
