Alice is a young woman fresh out of her philosophy studies. Coming from a brilliant background, she dreams of a successful career. However, when she moves to Lyon for a professional opportunity and is told that her job has been abolished, the opposite happens. She is then assigned to one of those perfectly useless functions: giving ideas to the mayor, who no longer possesses a single one after thirty years in politics. Only superficially useless: Alice will stimulate the mayor's mind. But beyond what's necessary for Lyon's political equilibrium.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Le th\u00e8me d’Alice et le Maire<\/em> para\u00eet rapidement \u00e9vident: il s’agit du conflit entre le politique et l’intellectuel. Si la critique du syst\u00e8me politique se trouve au centre de ce film, il ne s’agit pas de critiquer un syst\u00e8me en particulier: c’est son fonctionnement dans son ensemble qui est vis\u00e9 par le film de Nicolas Pariser. Ce sujet est abord\u00e9 avec beaucoup de classe: il est montr\u00e9 par des situations concr\u00e8tes, des dialogues bien construits, et jamais point\u00e9 du doigt avec insistance. On pourrait presque y voir une question en filigrane: est-il sain pour un amoureux des id\u00e9es et de la langue de s’engager dans une voie o\u00f9 les mots sont utilis\u00e9s comme un simple moyen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Car l’objet de la critique semble ici bien \u00eatre le manque d’esprit de la politique. Si cette derni\u00e8re para\u00eet appeler des personnes qui appr\u00e9cient r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir et chercher des solutions, il s’agira finalement plut\u00f4t de savoir les pr\u00e9senter, et au bon moment. La politique telle qu’elle est montr\u00e9e ici est un \u00e9cran de fum\u00e9e, servant \u00e0 cacher le fait qu’il est plus important de gratter le ventre des fortun\u00e9s pour obtenir des financements que de chercher un syst\u00e8me plus juste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le constat est dur, et les victimes collat\u00e9rales nombreuses. Mais nous parlons ici d’un film fran\u00e7ais, bien r\u00e9alis\u00e9 et avec une bonne distribution: l\u2019ironie est presque l\u2019un des axes du film, constitu\u00e9 par des dialogues fins habilement mis en contraste avec des ellipses, mais surtout des personnages fins mis en contraste avec des personnages st\u00e9r\u00e9otyp\u00e9s. Je me limiterai ici \u00e0 un exemple, suffisamment parlant: celui d\u2019une \u00e9tudiante expliquant \u00e0 quel point la situation est difficile psychologiquement pour les \u00e9tudiants. Si l\u2019auteure de cet article est mal plac\u00e9e pour ne pas souscrire un tout petit peu \u00e0 cette id\u00e9e, elle sait comme beaucoup d\u2019autres que cette victimisation r\u00e9currente pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e ici de fa\u00e7on extr\u00eamement caricaturale est pourtant tristement r\u00e9aliste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enfin, nuan\u00e7ons quand m\u00eame toutes ces \u00e9loges. Si le th\u00e8me est bien abord\u00e9, il l’est de fa\u00e7on un peu fade: on aurait pu souhaiter un peu plus de mordant et un peu plus d’action. Au niveau de la r\u00e9alisation, quelques rares clich\u00e9s et explications inutiles pour le propos auraient encore pu \u00eatre \u00e9vit\u00e9s pour que le film soit pleinement satisfaisant. Reste tout de m\u00eame un film int\u00e9ressant, qui soul\u00e8ve de nombreuses pistes de r\u00e9flexions: stimulant, sans \u00eatre \u00e9poustouflant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
