After <em><a href=\"https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/en\/cinema\/grace-a-dieu-et-aux-paroles-creuses\/\">Thanks be to God<\/a><\/em> in which he denounced pedophilia in the Church, preceded by the psychological thriller <a href=\"https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/en\/cinema\/double-lamant-from-sex-to-torment\/\"><em>The Double Lover<\/em><\/a> and many other important works, the French director immerses himself in his own adolescence, that of the eighties. In this context, the filmmaker tells the story of a new, beautiful and sexual friendship that ends in tragedy after six weeks. C&#8217;est plut\u00f4t une bonne chose pour un cin\u00e9aste. Fran\u00e7ois Ozon a habitu\u00e9 son public \u00e0 une haute qualit\u00e9 artistique \u00e0 force de films fr\u00f4lant la perfection formelle tout en \u00e9tant grand public. <em>Summer 85<\/em> devait donc \u00eatre \u00e0 la hauteur; il l&#8217;est. Incontestablement enchanteur, incontestablement beau, il suit la lign\u00e9e des pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents films tout en ayant la singularit\u00e9 de ne pas \u00eatre tr\u00e8s surprenant. Une romance estivale o\u00f9 un jeune homme se lie d&#8217;amiti\u00e9, puis un peu plus, avec un autre jeune homme qui est tr\u00e8s charmant, mais tr\u00e8s charmeur&#8230; on sait comment tout cela va finir. D&#8217;autant qu&#8217;on est mis tout de suite dans l&#8217;ambiance&nbsp;\u2013 c&#8217;est le personnage principal, Alexis (F\u00e9lix Lefebvre), faisant \u00e9cho \u00e0 Ozon adolescent, qui prend la parole pour nous avertir: si nous n&#8217;aimons pas la mort, ce film n&#8217;est pas fait pour nous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read also: <a href=\"https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/en\/cinema\/alone-on-the-land-or-homosexuality-in-a-farming-context\/\"><em>Only the Earth<\/em>, ou l&#8217;homosexualit\u00e9 dans un contexte paysan<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evidemment, l&#8217;histoire de ce cadavre, dont Alexis nous pr\u00e9vient \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re minute du film qu&#8217;il est celui d&#8217;une personne qu&#8217;il a aim\u00e9e passionn\u00e9ment, ne sera pas <em>exactly<\/em> celle \u00e0 laquelle on s&#8217;attend. Le sch\u00e9ma g\u00e9n\u00e9ral est n\u00e9anmoins connu: l&#8217;amour qui entra\u00eene la lassitude, la lassitude qui entra\u00eene la trahison, la trahison qui entra\u00eene la trag\u00e9die, la trag\u00e9die qui entra\u00eene la mort. Sans oublier une forme de triangle amoureux, sinon ce ne serait pas dr\u00f4le. Mais tout le g\u00e9nie de Fran\u00e7ois Ozon est de nous servir quelque chose de tout \u00e0 fait diff\u00e9rent de ce qu&#8217;il a pu faire auparavant, en se servant de l&#8217;\u00e9ternel couple <em>Eros<\/em> and <em>Thanatos<\/em> (amour et mort) et du ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne le plus banal qui soit (le chagrin d&#8217;amour) pour nous emmener dans un m\u00e9lodrame nostalgique o\u00f9 l&#8217;art appara\u00eet comme unique salut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>C&#8217;est en effet par <em>flashbacks<\/em> que le film proc\u00e8de, ce qui ajoute \u00e0 la dimension r\u00e9tro de ce dix-neuvi\u00e8me long-m\u00e9trage d&#8217;Ozon, et c&#8217;est l&#8217;\u00e9criture d&#8217;un r\u00e9cit qui va sortir Alexis de sa peine. <em>Summer 85<\/em> lui-m\u00eame a beaucoup \u00e0 voir avec la litt\u00e9rature: il s&#8217;agit en fait d&#8217;une adaptation de <em>La Danse du coucou&nbsp;<\/em>(<em>Dance on my Grave<\/em>) d&#8217;Aidan Chambers, qui avait marqu\u00e9 le r\u00e9alisateur quand il avait l&#8217;\u00e2ge de dix-sept ans. Le cadre temporel du film se comprend donc comme une p\u00e9riode \u00e0 part, un peu hors du temps, sur laquelle Ozon repose son regard sans la phantasmer. Au contraire, avec l&#8217;omnipr\u00e9sence de la mort comme trame de fond, ce film fait \u00e9cho au traumatisme qui fut v\u00e9cu par toute une g\u00e9n\u00e9ration avec l&#8217;\u00e9pid\u00e9mie de SIDA, tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sente aussi dans les derni\u00e8res \u0153uvres de l&#8217;\u00e9crivain Philippe Besson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mais si le film est beau bien que sombre, c&#8217;est gr\u00e2ce au grain rendu par le tournage en pellicule. C&#8217;est aussi d\u00fb \u00e0 la bande-son <em>vintage<\/em> qui compte sur The Cure et Ecran Total 80 notamment. C&#8217;est enfin et surtout le fait de la beaut\u00e9 de David (Benjamin Voisin), aussi \u00e9nervant que fascinant. A la beaut\u00e9 de ses habits <em>eighties<\/em>, de son aisance et de sa r\u00e9partie. Le film aurait pu se baser sur ce personnage, mais il met plut\u00f4t en lumi\u00e8re, du point de vue d&#8217;Alexis, l&#8217;opposition entre les deux gar\u00e7ons, dont on se demande si elle peut \u00eatre une compl\u00e9mentarit\u00e9. Tandis qu&#8217;Alexis aime les \u00eatres (personnes ou entit\u00e9s abstraites), David aime les \u00e9v\u00e9nements, les activit\u00e9s. Une opposition profonde, qui survient sur leurs diff\u00e9rences plus flagrantes et qui signera le d\u00e9but de la fin. Dans une ambiance o\u00f9, sous le patronage de James Dean, vivre sa vie jusqu&#8217;au bout revient \u00e0 s&#8217;avancer vers la mort. Mais ces clich\u00e9s ne d\u00e9servent pas le film; ils accentuent au contraire la facilit\u00e9 avec laquelle on entre dans un moment magique, quoique tragique, et attirent l&#8217;attention sur le caract\u00e8re construit des fictions, comme moyen de se rappeler la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 \u2013 et de lui donner un sens. <em>Summer 85 <\/em>s&#8217;accueille \u00e0 l&#8217;arriv\u00e9e comme un film qui comptera dans la carri\u00e8re d&#8217;Ozon et qui appelle dans tous les cas une vir\u00e9e incontournable dans les salles obscures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Write to the author: <a
