A cette occasion, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 nomin\u00e9, hier, au Prix du cin\u00e9ma suisse 2021, comme l\u2019un des \u00abMeilleurs films de fiction\u00bb et l\u2019une des \u00abMeilleures photographies\u00bb. <em>Atlas<\/em>, second long-m\u00e9trage du r\u00e9alisateur, est inspir\u00e9 d\u2019un attentat qui a eu lieu \u00e0 Marrakech en 2011 et qui a co\u00fbt\u00e9 la vie \u00e0 trois Tessinois. Niccol\u00f2 Castelli explique qu\u2019en 2011, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00abenvahi par le sentiment que quelque chose p\u00e9n\u00e9trait dans notre quotidien\u00bb alors qu\u2019il \u00e9tait persuad\u00e9 \u00abd\u2019habiter sur une \u00eele neutre, libre et heureuse, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cart du reste du monde\u00bb. Cette impression de ne plus vivre dans un cocon protecteur s\u2019apparente \u00e0 un ressenti omnipr\u00e9sent dans notre actualit\u00e9. <em>Atlas<\/em> semble le film tout indiqu\u00e9 pour ouvrir cette \u00e9dition en ligne du festival, dans cette p\u00e9riode troubl\u00e9e par la pand\u00e9mie de Covid-19.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more Lire la critique (en libre acc\u00e8s)-->\n\n\n\n<p><em>Atlas<\/em> aborde le sujet d\u00e9licat de la reconstruction d\u2019une jeune femme, Allegra (Matilda De Angelis), qui a perdu ses amis et son petit copain dans un attentat au Maroc. Sa reconstruction se situe \u00e0 la fois au niveau psychologique et au niveau physique. Autour d\u2019Allegra gravite \u00e9galement toute la probl\u00e9matique des attentats et des amalgames islamophobes et racistes qu\u2019ils peuvent engendrer. Un sujet tr\u00e8s ambitieux pour un long-m\u00e9trage d\u2019une heure et demie et pourtant un sujet extr\u00eamement bien men\u00e9 de bout en bout. Niccol\u00f2 Castelli a su s\u00e9lectionner les moments clefs de l\u2019\u00e9volution de son personnage et a r\u00e9ussi \u2013 en explorant de nombreux aspects de la personnalit\u00e9 d\u2019Allegra \u2013 \u00e0 ne pas \u00e9garer son public. La construction narrative m\u00eale pass\u00e9 et pr\u00e9sent, ce qui rend le film intriguant pour le spectateur, qui s\u2019interroge sur les causes de cette tristesse. Les divers \u00e9l\u00e9ments de l\u2019intrigue s\u2019encha\u00eenent tr\u00e8s rapidement, ne laissant que peu de temps aux spectateurs pour identifier les intervenants et comprendre la question centrale de leurs conversations avant de les entra\u00eener dans une autre temporalit\u00e9. Ce rythme est d\u2019autant plus regrettable que le long-m\u00e9trage regorge d\u2019une multitude de subtilit\u00e9s que les spectateurs risquent de ne pas pouvoir saisir. Pour ne donner qu\u2019un exemple, Allegra aura un d\u00e9clic alors qu\u2019elle travaille sa musculature chez sa physioth\u00e9rapeute. Cet exercice n\u2019a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 choisi au hasard par Niccol\u00f2 Castelli; c\u2019est au contact d\u2019une petite pierre qu\u2019elle doit soulever \u00e0 deux doigts qu\u2019Allegra amorce sa reconstruction. Ce contact direct avec sa passion \u2013 l\u2019escalade \u2013 incarne la transition entre le moment o\u00f9 elle ne ressentait plus rien et celui o\u00f9 elle commence \u00e0 reprendre go\u00fbt \u00e0 la vie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La cam\u00e9ra de Pietro Zuercher joue avec la profondeur de champ, l&#8217;\u00e9chelle des plans et offre de magnifiques images au film. Les plans larges sur les paysages de montagnes transmettent la passion d\u2019Allegra pour l\u2019escalade, les gros plans sur son corps \u2013 ses mains, ses doigts et ses pieds \u2013 qui s\u2019agrippe \u00e0 la pierre soulignent sa pers\u00e9v\u00e9rance. L\u2019image met \u00e9galement en avant l\u2019excellent jeu d\u2019actrice de Matilda De Angelis. L\u2019Allegra post-attentat exprime des \u00e9motions qui tranchent compl\u00e8tement avec les expressions de l\u2019Allegra enjou\u00e9e et souriante \u00abd\u2019avant\u00bb. Au c\u0153ur du r\u00e9cit, son personnage parvient \u00e0 tenir la distance et \u00e0 porter le long-m\u00e9trage jusqu\u2019au bout. La musique apporte, quant \u00e0 elle, la touche finale. Tant\u00f4t plus forte pour s&#8217;emparer du spectateur, tant\u00f4t discr\u00e8te pour lui laisser du r\u00e9pit, elle se fond dans les images avec justesse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Par ses choix, Niccol\u00f2 Castelli signe un film au sujet complexe qui impressionne son public autant par sa technique et son esth\u00e9tisme que par sa construction et sa narration. <em>Atlas<\/em> ne pr\u00e9sente qu\u2019un d\u00e9faut, celui d\u2019aller parfois un peu vite en besogne, ce qui emp\u00eache son spectateur d\u2019entrer pleinement en empathie avec son personnage principal et de saisir l\u2019enti\u00e8ret\u00e9 de ses finesses. Malgr\u00e9 cela, ce film m\u00e9rite d\u2019\u00eatre d\u00e9couvert et recommand\u00e9.
