Par exemple, un visionnage qui conclut l\u2019\u00e9tude d\u2019une \u0153uvre litt\u00e9raire au lyc\u00e9e. On pense aux <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0094947\/\"><em>Liaisons dangereuses<\/em> de Stephen Frears<\/a>, l\u2019intouchable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0102368\/\"><em>Bovary<\/em> du non moins intouchable Chabrol<\/a>\u2026 ou encore le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0107002\/\"><em>Germinal <\/em>de Claude Berri<\/a>, port\u00e9 par Depardieu. Mais l\u2019exercice n\u2019a plus la cote. Les \u0153uvres litt\u00e9raires du XIX<sup>th<\/sup> si\u00e8cle effraient. Elles sont timidement relay\u00e9es au rang de t\u00e9l\u00e9films et restent les grandes absentes du box-office. Alors, les adaptations n\u2019int\u00e9ressent plus les sc\u00e9naristes? Faut-il y voir un d\u00e9samour du public? Et ce n\u2019est pas le m\u00e9diocre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1440732\/\"><em>Bel-Ami<\/em> port\u00e9 par Robert Pattinson<\/a> en 2012 qui a renvers\u00e9 la tendance. Il nous fallait donc les <em>Lost illusions<\/em> pour faire mentir les paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fureur de l\u2019amour et fugue parisienne<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Lucien Chardon (Benjamin Voisin) est un roturier vivant gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poux de sa s\u0153ur. Ce dernier est propri\u00e9taire d\u2019une imprimerie \u00e0 Angoul\u00eame dans laquelle le fr\u00eale Lucien travaille, tout en r\u00eavant d\u2019une carri\u00e8re d\u2019\u00e9crivain. Boursoufl\u00e9 d\u2019amour pour la marquise Louise de Bargeton (C\u00e9cile de France), cette malheureuse protectrice r\u00eave de faire \u00e9clater le talent de son amant au grand jour. Mais l\u2019aristocratie d\u2019Angoul\u00eame se moque des <em>Marguerites<\/em>, le recueil de po\u00e8mes du jeune homme. Dans un exc\u00e8s de folie, Louise d\u00e9cide d\u2019emporter dans ses valises le na\u00eff Lucien pour monter \u00e0 la capitale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sans aucune ma\u00eetrise des codes de biens\u00e9ances, le jeune homme multiplie les erreurs et se fait crucifier \u00e0 l\u2019Op\u00e9ra, o\u00f9 le vrai spectacle a lieu dans les loges. Livr\u00e9 \u00e0 lui-m\u00eame dans un Paris \u00abo\u00f9 tu marches ou tu cr\u00e8ves\u00bb, il fait la rencontre d\u2019Etienne Lousteau (Vincent Lacoste), qui l\u2019entra\u00eene dans les magouilles de la presse florissante. Loin les grands id\u00e9aux de l\u2019information. La presse est vendue aux comm\u00e9rages. Un barom\u00e8tre des r\u00e9putations \u00e0 faire ou \u00e0 d\u00e9faire&#8230; Pour Lucien, l\u2019ascension dans le Paris des possibles d\u00e9bute\u2026 Les illusions et les d\u00e9sillusions aussi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C\u2019est \u00e9videmment l\u2019accent sur l\u2019ascension sociale qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 privil\u00e9gi\u00e9e par Xavier Giannoli. Benjamin Voisin excelle dans son r\u00f4le de jeune provincial qui monte \u00e0 Paris pour devenir et conqu\u00e9rir. Le montage participe \u00e0 cette fr\u00e9n\u00e9sie toujours plus abjecte et sans limite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Une Com\u00e9die parisienne subtilement d\u00e9peinte<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Quel est donc le secret qui fait de cette adaptation une r\u00e9ussite? Ce qui fait la force de cette adaptation, outre la mise en sc\u00e8ne, rel\u00e8ve de sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 respecter l\u2019intention de Balzac. Pas de r\u00e9cit autocentr\u00e9 sur le r\u00e9cit d\u2019un homme, mais une toile de fond qui se d\u00e9ploie. Le Paris de Lucien est celui de tous les possibles. On monte \u00e0 Paris, on m\u00e9prise la province. Subtilement amen\u00e9 par une voix off \u2013 dont l\u2019identit\u00e9 nous sera r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9e \u00e0 la fin du r\u00e9cit \u2013 l\u2019histoire de ce Paris de la Restauration se d\u00e9voile. L\u2019apparition des affiches publicitaires dans les rues, le d\u00e9veloppement des machines \u00e0 impression industrielles qui acc\u00e9l\u00e8rent le nombre de publications de la presse, sous fond de guerre entre royalistes et lib\u00e9raux\u2026 et surtout le fonctionnement de certains microcosmes parisiens comme celui de la culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dauriat (G\u00e9rard Depardieu), le plus grand \u00e9diteur de Paris, est illettr\u00e9, et dispos\u00e9 \u00e0 acheter les critiques des journalistes qui ne liront m\u00eame pas son livre. Tout se monnaie au plus offrant. Une pratique qui s\u2019\u00e9tend \u00e0 toute la sph\u00e8re culturelle, et particuli\u00e8rement au th\u00e9\u00e2tre. La r\u00e9ussite ou l\u2019\u00e9chec passe par des pots-de-vin. On paie pour le succ\u00e8s comme pour \u00eatre la ris\u00e9e de tout Paris. Dans le d\u00e9tail, tout cet univers sous-jacent et inaccessible \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153il de l\u2019observateur amateur est donn\u00e9 \u00e0 voir \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cran. La construction du film rend un v\u00e9ritable hommage \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153uvre balzacienne.
