Ce sont ces questions qu\u2019Alice Zeniter se pose dans <em>Toute une moiti\u00e9 du monde<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more Lire la critique (En libre acc\u00e8s)-->\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abDisons que c\u2019est un livre et puis c\u2019est tout.\u00bb C\u2019est par ces mots qu\u2019Alice Zeniter termine le pr\u00e9liminaire de son <em>Toute une moiti\u00e9 du monde<\/em>. Si l\u2019ouvrage est entour\u00e9 d\u2019un bandeau \u00abFlammarion Litt\u00e9rature\u00bb et qu\u2019il est \u00e9crit par l\u2019une des derni\u00e8res laur\u00e9ates du Goncourt des Lyc\u00e9ens \u2013 pour le g\u00e9nialissime <em>L\u2019art de perdre<\/em> en 2017 \u2013\u00ad il ne s\u2019agit n\u00e9anmoins pas d\u2019un roman. Pas non plus d\u2019un essai. Plut\u00f4t d\u2019une r\u00eaverie autour de la fiction. D\u2019une promenade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alors de quoi parle-t-on au d\u00e9tour de ces chemins sinueux? De la fiction. Et puis de cette envie de la red\u00e9couvrir et de la r\u00e9inventer. Car \u2013 utilisons d\u2019embl\u00e9e des mots pol\u00e9miques et souvent r\u00e9ducteurs \u2013 les r\u00e9cits qui nous entourent sont en grande partie sexistes et convenus. Pourtant la litt\u00e9rature a une force: dans la m\u00eame id\u00e9e qu\u2019elle a fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 notre imaginaire \u2013 parfois au d\u00e9triment de certains groupes \u2013 elle permet \u00e9galement d\u2019en cr\u00e9er d\u2019autres, avec toute la richesse que cela promet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>D\u00e9sirer les hommes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sans remettre en cause ce que les productions historiques lui ont apport\u00e9 tout au long de sa formation, Alice Zeniter se permet de les remettre en question. Et d\u2019envisager l\u2019avenir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans l\u2019impossibilit\u00e9 de revenir sur tous les \u00e9l\u00e9ments trait\u00e9s dans cet ouvrage, nous en avons s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 quelques-uns. Tout d\u2019abord, le <em>male gaze<\/em>: le fait que les r\u00e9cits, dans leur immense majorit\u00e9, adoptent le point de vue d\u2019un homme h\u00e9t\u00e9rosexuel et partent du principe que leur public portera lui aussi ce regard, notamment sur les personnages f\u00e9minins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019auteure critique ce r\u00e9flexe, tout en admettant qu\u2019elle-m\u00eame l\u2019a parfois adopt\u00e9 dans ses romans, sans m\u00eame s\u2019en rendre compte: \u00abJ\u2019ai eu honte de r\u00e9aliser que je n\u2019avais jamais cr\u00e9\u00e9 un personnage f\u00e9minin et jeune qui ne soit pas beau, pas d\u00e9sirable. [\u2026] Il a fallu que je me corrige, il a fallu que la th\u00e9orie [f\u00e9ministe, notamment venant de <em>King Kong Th\u00e9orie<\/em> de Virginie Despentes] vienne remodeler consciemment ce qui naissait de la pratique, laquelle s\u2019\u00e9tait form\u00e9e sur des mod\u00e8les tronqu\u00e9s\u2026\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u00ab[Ce <em>male gaze<\/em>] a aussi pour corollaire imm\u00e9diat de limiter l\u2019image qui est donn\u00e9e des hommes, en ne les pr\u00e9sentant jamais comme des objets possibles de d\u00e9sir, en ne les donnant jamais \u00e0 regarder, jamais immobiles, jamais alanguis \u2013 \u00e0 croire que jamais ils ne somnolent, jamais ils ne s\u2019arr\u00eatent sur le pas de la porte pour qu\u2019un amant ou une amante s\u2019\u00e9merveillent de les voir plant\u00e9s l\u00e0, jamais ils n\u2019ont un geste qui ne soit pas sorti du catalogue des gestes masculins homologu\u00e9s.\u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tuer des lions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>D\u2019o\u00f9 le titre du livre <em>Toute une moiti\u00e9 du monde<\/em>. On comprend rapidement de quelle moiti\u00e9 de l\u2019humanit\u00e9 l\u2019on parle. \u00ab\u00c7a se pose l\u00e0, comme un trou b\u00e9ant\u00bb. Mais Alice Zeniter, \u00e0 grand renfort de citations, de r\u00e9f\u00e9rences litt\u00e9raires et sociologiques, ne s\u2019arr\u00eate pas \u00e0 la critique du patriarcat et \u00e0 ce qu\u2019il engendre pour les femmes dans le monde de la litt\u00e9rature. Elle essaie d\u2019identifier les r\u00e9flexes qui m\u00e8nent \u00e0 ce qu\u2019elle appelle la \u00abparade virile\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C\u2019est ainsi qu\u2019elle d\u00e9crit une sorte de canevas. Est-ce pour cela qu\u2019elle se laisse parfois aller \u00e0 l\u2019ivresse? Alice Zeniter assume la contradiction. L\u2019image du Vrai Mec de la Litt\u00e9rature est d\u2019ailleurs peut-\u00eatre davantage repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e que v\u00e9cue. M\u00eame chez ces fameux \u00abVrais Mecs\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au-del\u00e0 de la posture d\u2019\u00e9crivain, c\u2019est \u00e9galement le contenu litt\u00e9raire que l\u2019auteure fran\u00e7aise d\u00e9cortique. Elle souhaite sortir des \u00ab<em>romans as usual<\/em>\u00bb. Une formule qu\u2019elle emprunte \u00e0 Sophie Divry: \u00ab[le <em>roman as usual<\/em> c\u2019est celui] qui se r\u00e9p\u00e8te avec succ\u00e8s, demande un sujet \u00e0 la mode, une intrigue vraisemblable et haute en couleur, des personnages bien camp\u00e9s auxquels on peut s\u2019identifier, un style d\u2019une lisibilit\u00e9 digeste, quelque chose de clair, d\u2019imm\u00e9diatement compr\u00e9hensible et reconnaissable.\u00bb Comment faire pour en sortir? Moduler les styles de narration. Supprimer les personnages. R\u00e9int\u00e9grer la nature\/l\u2019environnement au centre du propos \u2013 fuir l\u2019anthropocentrisme. Voici quelques pistes donn\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u00abJ\u2019aime les personnages sans arc visible, ballot\u00e9s par les situations, comme ceux de Zeruya Shalev dans <em>Mari et femme<\/em> ou <em>Douleur<\/em>, qui commencent une phrase dans un \u00e9tat, se d\u00e9testent de le ressentir, y r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissent, lient \u00e0 un souvenir, s\u2019en d\u00e9p\u00eatrent p\u00e9niblement, se f\u00e9licitent d\u2019y avoir \u00e9chapp\u00e9 et y retombent, plus agit\u00e9s encore qu\u2019au d\u00e9part.\u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Se permettre le scandale<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Par ailleurs, Alice Zeniter milite pour ouvrir nos horizons: \u00abLes \u00e9l\u00e9ments qu\u2019il est possible d\u2019int\u00e9grer au roman sont toujours nombreux\u00bb. Elle cite les habituelles minorit\u00e9s de plus en plus m\u00e9diatis\u00e9es. Elle ajoute \u00e9galement des nuances. Il faut des femmes, \u00e9videmment, mais encore des femmes adult\u00e8res. Des personnes dans la difficult\u00e9, aux prises \u00e0 la consommation de drogues, des incestueux, des scandaleuses. Au risque de finir en gros fourre-tout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un fourre-tout? Oui, car le monde est un chaos. Un joyeux bordel. Mais la litt\u00e9rature permet d\u2019y mettre un peu d\u2019ordre. Joan Didion affirmait dans <em>Pourquoi j\u2019\u00e9cris<\/em>: \u00abSi j\u2019avais eu la chance de pouvoir acc\u00e9der, m\u00eame de fa\u00e7on limit\u00e9e, \u00e0 mes propres pens\u00e9es, je n\u2019aurais eu aucune raison d\u2019\u00e9crire. J\u2019\u00e9cris uniquement pour d\u00e9couvrir ce que je pense, ce que je regarde, ce que je vois et ce que \u00e7a signifie.\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Faire revenir le collectif<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Mettre de l\u2019ordre justement, et cela \u00e9galement dans les interactions. Et si la litt\u00e9rature cessait de s\u2019appuyer les conflits pour faire avancer un r\u00e9cit? Pour l\u2019auteure, il s\u2019agirait ainsi de faire interagir les \u00e9l\u00e9ments d\u2019une histoire autour de probl\u00e9matiques communes. Une mani\u00e8re, de temps en temps, de mettre de c\u00f4t\u00e9 les gu\u00e9guerres et de favoriser la relation.
