Pour tenir une promesse, il s\u2019inscrit en secret dans la troupe de danse contemporaine de Maria Ribot \u00e0 laquelle sa d\u00e9funte compagne participait. C\u2019est un nouveau monde que Germain d\u00e9couvre, o\u00f9 l\u2019expression du corps est au c\u0153ur de toutes les libert\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Un film d<\/strong><strong>\u00e9<\/strong><strong>pouill<\/strong><strong>\u00e9<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Disons-le tout de suite: <em>Last Dance <\/em>n\u2019est ni un film ambitieux ni un film inoubliable. Pourtant, il comporte un certain lot de propositions louables qui en font une \u0153uvre qui m\u00e9rite qu\u2019on y consacre une heure trente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Passons rapidement sur sa mise en sc\u00e8ne qui privil\u00e9gie la discr\u00e9tion et laisse la place aux interpr\u00e8tes pour s\u2019exprimer. Cette discr\u00e9tion se change malheureusement trop souvent en actes manqu\u00e9s, en particulier lors des sc\u00e8nes de danse contemporaine o\u00f9 tout est \u00e0 inventer. On aurait pu \u00eatre cr\u00e9atif, exp\u00e9rimenter, tordre le moyen d\u2019expression en s\u2019\u00e9mancipant des codes, \u00e0 l\u2019image de la danse contemporaine. Le film multiplie les perspectives sans jamais t\u00e2cher de les transformer en enjeux: les conflits avec la famille ne sont que des petits malentendus sans cons\u00e9quence et r\u00e9solus en un rien de temps. Le d\u00e9calage entre Germain et le milieu qu\u2019il int\u00e8gre s\u2019envole imm\u00e9diatement face \u00e0 la bienveillance g\u00e9n\u00e9rale des personnages. M\u00eame la repr\u00e9sentation que la troupe pr\u00e9pare n\u2019est jamais qu\u2019un accomplissement qui ne demande ni tensions particuli\u00e8res ni sacrifices. Tout est servi sur un plateau. <em>Last Dance <\/em>cherche avant tout \u00e0 \u00eatre agr\u00e9able \u2013\u00a0trop agr\u00e9able \u2013\u00a0et sacrifie pour cela ses enjeux, ses drames et m\u00eame la difficult\u00e9 que peut incarner le deuil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cin<\/strong><strong>\u00e9<\/strong><strong>ma et danse contemporaine<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette simplicit\u00e9 peut facilement faire passer <em>Last Dance <\/em>pour un film pauvre. Pourtant, ses faiblesses peuvent, avec un peu de bonne foi, appara\u00eetre comme des qualit\u00e9s. Que faire de ces enjeux qui seront surmont\u00e9s une \u00e9ni\u00e8me fois? Pourquoi s\u2019encombrer de conflits qui finiront irr\u00e9m\u00e9diablement par se r\u00e9soudre?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En cela, le film prend exemple sur son sujet: la danse contemporaine, orchestr\u00e9e ici par Maria Ribot. Le corps est pens\u00e9 comme un objet qui cherche \u00e0 s\u2019exprimer; il est vivant et dirig\u00e9 par une volont\u00e9 int\u00e9rieure et non ext\u00e9rieure. C\u2019est-\u00e0-dire qu\u2019il exprime la volont\u00e9 de celui qui le poss\u00e8de et non la volont\u00e9 d\u2019une chor\u00e9graphie froide et calcul\u00e9e. Le film se r\u00e9v\u00e8le alors malin: notre papy bougon, qui s\u2019exprime peu sur son deuil et qui appara\u00eet physiquement fatigu\u00e9, se retrouve contraint d\u2019ext\u00e9rioriser ses \u00e9motions \u00e0 travers son corps. Une vie sans sa femme, marqu\u00e9e par le deuil, aux objectifs flous, mais qui doit \u00eatre investie d\u2019un sens nouveau s\u2019il veut \u00e9chapper \u00e0 la d\u00e9pression. La danse contemporaine est aussi l\u2019outil permettant \u00e0 Germain de se reconstruire. La m\u00e9taphore est non seulement maligne, mais elle s\u2019int\u00e8gre plut\u00f4t efficacement \u00e0 la com\u00e9die populaire que souhaite \u00eatre <em>Last Dance<\/em>. Le choix para\u00eet ainsi judicieux de rendre le film accessible \u00e0 tous sur un sujet qui ne l\u2019est pas. On peut toutefois regretter de ne pas profiter d\u2019une incursion un peu plus pouss\u00e9e dans cet univers. Demeurant avant tout un outil au service de la narration du personnage de Germain, cette exploration de la danse contemporaine reste trop en surface. Mais la d\u00e9marche est d\u00e9j\u00e0 estimable et inviter Maria Ribot \u00e0 incarner son propre r\u00f4le renforce le sentiment de bienveillance que le film cherche \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper envers son sujet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En parlant de deuil et de danse contemporaine sur le ton de la com\u00e9die, <em>Last Dance <\/em>se devait de faire des choix pour \u00eatre accessible. Ce pari est r\u00e9ussi, m\u00eame si cela peut nuire \u00e0 sa qualit\u00e9 de mise en sc\u00e8ne et \u00e0 la construction d\u2019enjeux volontairement superficiels. Pourtant, le r\u00e9sultat d\u00e9bouche sur film propre de son sujet, car vivant, cherchant \u00e0 s\u2019exprimer \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cart des codes impos\u00e9s par le sc\u00e9nario classique.
