Doctor of Philosophy Thibault Giraud, host of the Monsieur Phi YouTube channel, takes a closer look at the subject in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=R2fjRbc9Sa0\"><u>video<\/u><\/a> posted on January 8 entitled \u00abWhat is ChatGPT really capable of?.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accompanied by L\u00ea Nguy\u00ean Hoang, a researcher at EPFL, he explains the key to ChatGPT's operation: \u00abMost AIs <em>(editor's note: artificial intelligence)<\/em> that generate text are based on so-called <em>large language models<\/em> (\u201cbig language models\u201d)\u00bb. These models are designed to perform a single, very precise task: \u00abpredicting the next word in a text\u00bb. For the language model behind ChatGPT, we're talking about \u00bbat least 175 billion parameters\u00ab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In short, it's important to understand that such a tool doesn't \u00abanswer\u00bb the questions put to it, as a human being would. It doesn't analyze or synthesize, nor does it demonstrate creativity, but it does generate \u00aba credible follow-up to a given text\u00bb.
