The Foundation praised the contribution of these two \u00abintellectual entrepreneurs\u00bb to debate and knowledge.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bonny Foundation\u2019s 2025 Freedom Award ceremony took place on Thursday evening before more than 700 guests from the political, economic, and cultural spheres, as part of the \u2019Impulsap\u00e9ro\u201d event organized by the law firm Kellerhals Carrard at the Kursaal in Bern. The prize, worth 100,000 Swiss francs, was awarded this year to the founders of the Institute for Swiss Economic Policy (IWP) at the University of Lucerne, Christoph Schaltegger and Ren\u00e9 Scheu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Foundation vice-president Beat Brechb\u00fchl hailed them in his speech as \u00abtwo men who act by thinking - and think by acting\u00bb. For Christoph Schaltegger and Ren\u00e9 Scheu, evidence comes before statements,\u00ab he added. The IWP is not a think tank with a PR mission, but a laboratory for factual research.\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-l-institut-pour-la-politique-economique-suisse\">Institute for Swiss Economic Policy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Born in 2021, the\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iwp.swiss\/\">Institut f\u00fcr Schweizer Wirtschaftspolitik (IWP)<\/a> aims to facilitate opinion-forming on major economic policy issues in Switzerland, such as inequality, by providing solid, understandable facts. Attached to the University of Lucerne and financed by private funds, the IWP sets itself apart from the academic world by sometimes launching poster campaigns in railway stations. Its monthly newsletter \u00abFive facts on economic policy\u00bb is an example of clarity and contribution to debate and knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the research that caused a stir in Parliament, the media and the general public, the institute demonstrated that income inequality was <a href=\"https:\/\/leregardlibre.com\/en\/economy\/the-great-convergence-global-equality-and-its-drawbacks\/\">generally stable in Switzerland over the past hundred years<\/a>, or that federal government employees earned on average 12% more than if they worked in the private sector in an equivalent position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The IWP is headed by economics professor Christoph Schaltegger, a former personal advisor to PLR Federal Councilor Hans-Rudolf Merz, and the institute\u2019s secretary general is philosopher and journalist Ren\u00e9 Scheu, former head of the culture section at the <em>NZZ<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-vous-venez-de-lire-un-article-inedit-en-libre-acces-debats-analyses-actualites-culturelles-nbsp-abonnez-vous-nbsp-a-notre-media-de-reflexion-pour-nous-soutenir-et-avoir-acces-a-tous-nos-contenus\">You've just read an unpublished open-access article.
