Recent winner of the Prix de Flore, Le Voyant d'Etampes is an x-ray of the rift between two generations who no longer understand each other, a portrait of the decay of an era unable to confront the crumbling of its illusions and respond to new anti-racist concerns. It's a sensitive subject that will quickly prove to be a burning issue when the woke ideology takes charge of its media hype. A societal dimension that carried in my reader's imagination its share of novelistic pitfalls and literary fears. But as this novel deals with the pillorying of an author you haven't read, it would have been comical for me to do the same. So let's be resolutely dissident and read it!
