Linkin Park's new beginning4 reading minutes

The Californian rock band unveils a new album and sets off on tour again, seven years after the death of its charismatic leader. A return to their roots that seeks to (re)conquer their target audience: millennials who have lost their bearings.

It may make many smile (or cry), but the author of these lines was more affected by the death of Chester Bennington than by that of Michael Jackson. In the summer of 2017, the 41-year-old Linkin Park singer ended his life. Days marked by sexual abuse and his parents' divorce in his childhood, as well as his early experimentation with drugs.

Linkin Park is perhaps the only «Nu-Metal» band, that blend of hard rock and rap, to have endured over time. In almost two decades of activity, the band led by Bennington and rapper Mike Shinoda has released six albums, sold close to 100 million copies of their debut album, and recorded more than 1,000 albums.
