As his forty-seventh feature film arrives in cinemas in France and French-speaking Switzerland, Woody Allen (82) is in turmoil. The facts are well known, and not new. For the past twenty-five years, every time a new film is released, the director of’Annie Hall come alive, resound, then fall silent. While Mr. Allen and his inner circle have so far managed to contain the fire, the still-painful trauma of the «Weinstein affair» (brought to light by Ronan Farrow, none other than the New York director's son) may well, by way of reaction, hasten the end of the career of the most prolific director of all time.
