Le Regard Libre N° 67 - Lauriane Pipoz

On the occasion of the «Le Livre sur les quais» fair, Le Regard Libre obtained a rich interview with Jonathan Coe. The Briton is currently the author of some fifteen novels. A lover of his country, he is usually associated with his literary genre, mixing political essay and fiction. His latest work, The Heart of England (2018), is dedicated to the Brexit. This is the third installment following the adventures of the protagonists of the novels Welcome to the Club (2001) and The Closed Circle (2004). We indulge in a political discussion, but also an intimate one: the author had things to tell us both about Britain's social cleavages and about his relationship to his work and the aims he pursues in writing them.

Le Regard Libre: Benjamin Trotter, the protagonist of Bienvenue au club, Le cercle fermé and Le cœur de l'Angleterre, makes up the group.
