Franck Dubosc, the most handsome of the handsome, in «All Inclusive».»
Cinema Wednesdays - Jonas Follonier
In All inclusive, Franck Dubosc more than ever embodies the redneck character he has become. The film, with its flaws, marries the beaufude to perfection and gives viewers a great time. A great success.
Bruno (François-Xavier Demaison) is the winner of the «Lune 2 Miel» competition and wins a week's vacation in a Caribbean hotel. all inclusive. At the airport, his wife realizes that her passport has expired, which causes the couple to quarrel. She won't be boarding. Bruno can leave alone. So much the better, says the audience. It's just as well, he'll be able to enjoy a week in total freedom. But that's without taking into account Jean-Paul Cisse (Franck Dubosc), who witnessed the scene and who Bruno will have to put up with for the whole stay.
Honestly, the film is well-crafted, and we'd like to tell anyone who wants to see Franck Dubosc in a different guise to look elsewhere - expression typical redneck. Like our audience, the film doesn't take the piss. It's a register. And it has to be said that the dialogue penned by Fabien Onteniente (the director), Guy Laurent and Franck Dubosc confirms the repetitive - and therefore funny - nature of this proudly French cinema. Here's a small selection:
«Right now, your wife is The Voice: you turned around without knowing her.» (Jean-Paul Cisse, All inclusive, Paris, 2019)
«Jean-Paul, he farted in the water.» (Caroline, Manon, Sonia et. al., op. cit.)
«You're kidding, angel.» (Bruno, op. cit.)
All inclusive, It's also a Josiane Balasko «retired and a widow, and above all a widow, and therefore free, and when I say free, I mean really free, genre libre de chez libre» with ACDC on her breasts - typical redneck. It's Thierry Lhermitte playing a repressed homosexual principal in «plus nerard tu meurs» mode. It's Franck Dubosc as a beaufitude genius and François-Xavier Demaison who doesn't play it very well. But «on s'bat les steaks», as they say.
What's great is to see all this ridiculousness shown on screen, embraced and magnified, in the form of fancy dress parties and pool bar, and free cocktails. In the picture, as in the movie theater, there are rednecks of every generation. And what makes them so endearing? Quite simply, they're real people. Middle-class people, victims of an age they don't always understand. People with many imperfections, just like this film, and who are therefore fully human. Without artifice.
