The theatrical memory that Fribourg keeps, on the other hand, is the FriScènes festival. Where the stage gives way to the spoken word, illuminating it with its spotlights, creating silence around it in the darkened auditorium. The voice of young actor Lionel Fournier, in particular, made a lasting impression. Alone on stage, to interpret Alessandro Baricco's monologue, under a sober and touching direction by Cédric Jossen.

Danny Boodman T.D. Lemon Novecento was abandoned a few days after birth on an ocean liner. He was adopted by a member of the crew, and at the age of eight found himself a virtuoso at the ballroom piano. At twenty-seven, he meets the narrator, a trumpeter who joins the orchestra. «Novecento and I became friends for life and death. Thanks to the intimate bond between the two musicians, the incredible story of the pianist who never got off his boat is offered to the public.

The piece is profound, with no frills. It's about friendship, roots, music, salvation, choice and infinity. All from the body of a single man. The pauses, movements and discreet lighting effects nevertheless manage to give rhythm to the artistic moment, and keep the spectator's attention riveted to Novecento's tender tale.
