«Marine Le Pen says THANK YOU!»

We can only hope that the Front National's success in the European elections will trigger a powerful dynamic of self-questioning on the part of the various French political parties, especially the PS and UMP. For several decades now, we have been witnessing the widening gap between France's political elites and the population.

Everything the people can't stand any longer - in particular the excesses of financial neo-capitalism and the abuses of Sixties-era libertarianism - is ignored by the traditional parties, who are far too comfortable in their constant bath: on the hard left, a purely and naively economic anti-capitalism which ignores the exaggerations of the bobo-libertarian left; on the so-called «classic» right, a «liberal conservatism» which makes them express themselves on social issues (secularism or security, for example) but which is satisfied with an exclusively financial liberalism which is copiously criticized by the public.

Journalist and essayist Jean-François Kahn denounces and develops all this in his latest book, Marine Le Pen says THANK YOU!. In particular, he explains how the respective abandonments of the various parties have created a staircase for the Lepéniste party - an escalator, since the FN hardly needed to step forward to win!

No one presented a real alternative to this ridiculous UMP-PS bipolarism, an alternative with a complete and coherent vision. No one was interested in what was ailing citizens; they were told that insecurity didn't exist, that there was only a feeling of insecurity.’intelligentsia In short, the media and the political establishment called them imbeciles. After all, it's the petty-bourgeois left that's largely responsible for what was bound to happen, namely 25% votes for the Front Party in the European elections.

This Gallic issue is fascinating in its own right; it's even more so for us Swiss, who are interested in French politics but don't find ourselves in as poor a state as our neighbors. This analysis can serve as a warning, an anticipation, a preparation for a catastrophe that could well happen in our country too. My wish is that our parties will (re)find a societal and socio-economic line! And may some enlightened movement in particular awaken from its slumber, so that it redirects mankind towards responsibility and a sense of the common good.

Here, to give you a taste of Jean-François Kahn's hilarious style and excellent thinking, is a selection from his latest essay. Marine Le Pen says THANK YOU!:

«Change is now. The change of change is after.»

«Why did [Hollande] want to be president? To be president.»

«Marine Le Pen bat proclaims on the one hand: listen to what I say about immigration and insecurity, I'm more to the right than the UMP, see my hair; and, on the other: listen to what I say about the State, social issues, neoliberal globalization, I'm more to the left than the PS, see my wings!»

«Hollande] swallows his pride and (applauded by his small court) proclaims to the comrade cantonade: “I'm a social democrat. I want to follow their example. What has failed everywhere else, I'm going to do-” All the heiress had to do was reap the rewards. Unexpected. The soup was served to her piping hot. Ave Caesar, those by whom you will die salute you!»

«Hollande, hyper-president but of cardboard paste, is doing Sarkozy without the madness or talent.»

«How, moreover, was it possible to combine in the same gift package - it's enough to make you bite your head off! - on the one hand, measures to restrict public spending, and on the other, tax and social security cuts for businesses?»

«Socialists, who are to socialism what DSK is to abstinence and who have replaced L'internationale by Come on, doll!, On the Internet, social networks are gradually finding their balance between hatred of others and self-hatred.»

«We obsessively hunt down improperly deviant expressions, but banning begging in subway cars would be the beginning of totalitarianism.»

«Their vote therefore has, first of all, the meaning of a spit. A burp of disgust.»
