Nicolas Richoz is a triathlete. Two days after completing his master's degree in civil engineering at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), he embarked on the adventure of cycling the main Alpine passes with his friend Coralie. The aim? To write a book about it. Les Alpes à vélo conveys what it's like to be a cyclist: effort and delight, human warmth and the unexpected, intense joys and disappointments. It's a richly illustrated book, with exceptional-quality photos that will appeal even to those with little interest in cycling. The rigor with which the route is planned, the structure of the book, the maps and indexes also reveal the author's engineering skills.
