In search of an idea, my mind wanders through the latest exhibitions I've had the opportunity to visit, and quite naturally I stop at the great theme they all have in common: the portrait. A vast subject, if ever there was one. What can I say in so few words? I'm thinking of Meret Oppenheim's remarkable little self-portrait, on view at the Kunstmuseum Bern.
