Theodor Wildt is a skilled excursionist, a studious prose writer and a brilliant camera operator, sharing textual and pictorial fragments of his work with Regard Libre readers.
God knows I've sometimes suffered from anguish and ruminations during my excursions. There are some very sweet reveries of the solitary walker, but also some far more bitter. In order to define and approach existence with a clearer conscience, I have resolved to judge Rousseau's sensiblerie, which helped bring about the cultural reversal that was the advent of Romanticism - and which is still having its full effect today. The man who, in my opinion, remains the most admirable prose writer the French language has ever known, devoted unprecedented care to giving form and music to his thoughts. However successful these efforts may have been, they do little to disguise the fact that the essence of Rousseau's thinking is articulated in his own words.
