The saga Saw continues. After the seventh instalment of the bloody film series, subtitled «Final Chapter», an eighth episode has now hit the screens, based on the villain of the story... who died ten years ago. Against all odds, Jigsaw, the puzzle killer, seems to be back, judging by the voice the police detect in new audio recordings and the blood scientists find on a victim.

This is the plot of a film that has lost none of the gory voyeurism of its big brothers. Perpetual butchery, but varied in its methods. That's what viewers who haven't seen this phenomenon of horror cinema from 2004 to 2010 should expect. Shot, burned with acid, shredded with saws or hanged, participants in Jigsaw's new «game» (or its successor) are doomed to the worst ignominy, albeit prepared with talent and meticulousness.

While the abundance of blood and human horror may shock (and thank goodness it does!), the full force of Jigsaw, which is totally in keeping with the latest films, lies in the question posed by the script: isn't John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, actually dead? Hopefully, this is why so many people flock to the cinema to follow this story. For while his traps and tortures are horrifying in their extreme violence, the murderous character nevertheless fascinates viewers with his desire for justice and his thirst for the truth. Whether he's dead or not.
