Castro (Jean-Pierre Bacri) is a famous TV presenter whose fame is beginning to erode over the years. His producer, Nathalie (Léa Drucker), invites him to a house-warming party at her new home, just 30 minutes from Paris. With its rustic decor and a host of guests from the capital's audiovisual elite, the atmosphere is one of festivities, but also of self-righteousness. Castro, misanthrope and perfect replica of Thierry Ardisson, stands out among all these bobos - including his ex-wife. The evening is set ablaze with social, professional and family tensions.

Place Publique marks a new collaboration between Jean-Pierre Bacri and Agnès Jaoui, after a whole series of plays and films together. The two co-wrote the screenplay, while Agnès Jaoui was responsible for directing and editing.
