A symbol of emancipation, the automobile embodies movement, intimacy and the power to choose. However, in the age of digital technology and automation, it is changing its very nature. Its evolution tells us something essential about what we are becoming.

It's a place to eat, sing, phone and catch up on news. Some sleep in them, others make love. The car is a means of transport, of course, but not the only one. It's also a space of intimacy, a miniature residence that we take everywhere with us. More than any other modern object, the car embodies individual freedom. To combine such a wide range of uses, manufacturers have had to integrate a large number of complex technologies into a small volume. Which also makes it one of the most revealing objects of our time.
