On May 17, a group of some thirty individuals, incensed by the contents of a book they admitted not having read, stormed into the room at the University of Geneva where French professor Eric Marty was to speak, preventing the event from taking place. What was striking about this action, over and above its violence and infringement of freedom of expression, was the overall attitude of the protagonists, which betrayed a motivation quite different from the motives displayed in the form of grievances as absurd as they were predictable («fascist», «transphobic», «reactionary», etc.).
