Dominique Vuigner: «Switzerland must remain an island of stability» 

For more than sixty years, Swissminiatur has been telling the story of the Swiss Confederation in miniature. The president of the Ticino park discusses the evolution of tourism, his commitment to cantonal identities, and the challenges the country will face by 2050.

Dominique Vuigner: Back then, my father ran a grocery store in Grimisuat (VS). One day, a traveler told him about an attraction he’d seen abroad: “Holland in Miniature.” The idea began to take shape. Together with a business partner, my parents wondered what they could do in Switzerland and looked at several plots of land. There were some near Lucerne. In the end, they settled in Ticino. My parents fell in love with the region. Looking back, it was a stroke of luck.
