Many of those whose existence today consists of tracking down and fighting «wokism» everywhere tend to equate it with Marxism. A simplistic and somewhat haphazard association, far from unanimous.

«Wokism is indeed the fruit of Marxism: more precisely, it is its successor.» This is the title of an article published in December 2021 on the Front Populaire website, a magazine edited by Michel Onfray. The author, Bernard Paqueteau, defended the thesis of a filiation between Marxism and wokism. A brief analysis of the title chosen - which constitutes the thesis of the article - is enough to weaken the point: «succeeding to» in no way implies ’being the fruit of«. Every reality succeeds another in time, but does not follow from it.
