Chaos in Yemen

Houthis firing missiles and drones, American retaliation, reciprocal threats: the escalation of violence is driving hopes of peace away in Yemen. This situation, initially linked to the war in Gaza, is now spreading far beyond it.

The image went round the world. On November 19, 2023, a helicopter-borne Houthi commando - a Shiite tribe in power in most of Yemen - stormed the Galaxy Leader cargo ship and captured its crew. Since then, the Red Sea has been the scene of constant Houthi attacks, further undermining security in this area where 12% of the world's trade passes through. But this threat, which goes beyond purely commercial issues, is making Yemen even more fragile, as the country has been plunged into a serious humanitarian crisis for almost ten years.

The link with Gaza

The link between the Houthi terrorist acts and the latest news of the Israeli-Palestinian war is clear.
