Le Regard Libre N° 43 - Diego Taboada

The 2019 European elections are presented in most media as a referendum for or against immigration. Why not instead see it as an opportunity to rethink the system as a whole and finally propose reforms to save the European Union?

Criticism comes from all sides. Attacks on European integration date back to the early days of the EU. Anti-European movements have been more or less strong in recent history, from the Maastricht Treaty to Brexit. Opposition has naturally included the refusal to see one's country dispossessed of part of its sovereignty, and moreover, to the benefit of an entity under the political and cultural yoke of the United States. Since the 1990s, it has been the adoption of the single currency - which would be economically harmful, serving German domination& - that has been the main opposition.
