Can philosophy help us manage Covid-19? Yes, thanks in particular to John Rawls' theory of justice. This American philosopher proposes a thought experiment aimed at finding the principles of a just society. Applied to the management of the virus, it raises the question of whether the Federal Council's decisions meet the standard of impartiality, which is the only way to protect everyone's interests - including their freedoms.

As its name suggests, the veil of ignorance is one of the components of John Rawls' theory of justice. It's what we might call a thought experiment, which this important American philosopher uses to build a theory combining social justice and economic efficiency, and respecting equity. Its main assumption is that members of the same community, in order to find the principles of a fair and just society, have to work together.
