In 1992, Zurich closed the Platzspitz park, which, in the shadow of the Swiss National Museum, had become a filthy hotbed of decay, violence and overdose. Three years later, it was the turn of the neighboring Letten area, which had succeeded it as Europe's largest drug market. 2023: a stroll from the peaceful Platzspitz to the former Letten station, via the disused tracks lined with bistros, a skate park, beach volleyball and the Limmat, now a swimming pool.
