The white slave: deconstructing a woke stereotype

The West is not alone in having practiced slavery: the whole planet has done so. Europe and the United States, however, are the only countries to have fully recognized it. Here are seven facts about slavery that are generally overlooked in the media and textbooks.

Everyone knows at least some of the history of the Atlantic slave trade, also known as the triangular trade. What do we often conclude from this fragmentary information? That the West alone is guilty of crimes against humanity such as slavery and the slave trade. That the white man alone reduced the black man over many centuries to a thing over which he had the right of life and death. And that the Atlantic slave trade alone bled the African continent dry. But, as always, things aren't quite that simple. To get away from the Woke Manichaeism, which only
